Wow, Rack Extensions are expensive

They are expensive, but propellerhead are offering up freebies from time to time to keep everyone interested. Once they introduce more instruments it;ll make Reason a whole new package. Of course the biggest worry is that from now on they won't include new devices in each new version...I hope that's not the case.

I personally don't find them expensive, they're pretty much what I expected price-wise. From day 1 people have complained about price, but these complaints are mostly from freeloaders who simply aren't used to paying for software.
They've bought the R6 upgrade for a few dollars/euros (name your price), got their free 6.5 upgrade and expected €5/$5 plugins across the board.
There's a big difference in people who use Reason, young hobbyists who still need to grow pubes, students on budget, professional engineers and producers and alot inbetween.
On the PUF, nearly all complaints came from the first two groups, which is understandable in a way.
But to make a big deal out of it? Buy what you need. Can't afford it? Save up/get a job.
OT:
Headquest, your anti-everything Reason attitude is cringeworthy. The amount of times I've seen you post negative stuff about this program and it's developers in every single Reason thread is borderline pathetic.
You're not using the program (I hope, or you really are pathetic), why keep posting your negative crap in Reason threads? What's the point if you're not even using the program?
I went from Cubase to Sonar4 (now X1) and have used Reason alongside since version 1. I've used Ableton Live 4 and ditched it after a year, I can't stand the program, the boring UI and the workflow.
It wouldn't even cross my mind to track down every single Ableton Live thread and post my frustrations and hatred for that program.
Get a hobby.

xonarmusic please read the forum rules..calling someone out as you've done for having a different opinion is usually what ends up getting a thread locked or a ban. Cool down, please.
and welcome to kvr.

Thanks for the welcome, even though I've been a lurker for many years I decided to register not too long ago. This, in order to participate in topics I enjoy and are interesting to me, rather than topics I dislike and feel hatred for.
I don't think I was insulting or calling anyone out, I was merely asking headquest, seeing as I encounter his negative and bashing posts far too often in anything Reason-related. I don't even know the guy, but I know his posts and it got tiresome.
Thanks for the mute suggestion, but that's a very easy way out.

I've never expressed hate towards any individual on this or any other forum.mrdr wrote:bluedad, you're OK with those all hatefests by Headquest?
xonarmusic is the third person this week to personally attack me within under ten posts. One of those was already banned. Most adults can recognise internet bullying when they see it. In fact, there are lots of other people here who have been far more rude about Propellerhead/Reason than I have, but who haven't been singled out for bullying, which makes the situation all the more disturbing.
Whatever people think of my opinions about Propellerhead, if they see a succession of Reason users sign up here and right away start bullying an individual, that reflects extremely badly on the Reason community, and I'm guessing most Reason users would hate to see that happen.
Obviously on a forum such as this customers will share their experiences of products, sometimes good, sometimes bad. And if you see somebody criticise a product and you don't like what they have to say, then "muting" the person means you no longer have to consider their point of view. However, personal attacks aren't allowed, and that's how it should be.

PS_ to all concerned Ive been using reason since version 01, and despite its notable failings have decided not to sell 6.5, only tostill keep it as a closed DAW without the RE's apart from the pulsar and softube nob which I got free. If the props start to allow downloads of RE devices then they can count me in.(again)

I think Rack Extension have seen a devaluation over the last year, that benefit the customer
This new Orbis WT RE is only costing $29

I recently got back in to reason. They can have some decent sales, though usually not to the level we see for vsts. Still if you get in to one of the 'rig' packs from props thats already a huge discount if you catch the rigs on sale. 150$ for a great 3x delay, bitspeak, 808 synth, buffre effect, drum synth, glitch effect, rhythm generator, monopoly, punchBD RE, REdominator, resampler, 2 sugar bytes effects, subboom bass, viking, synchronus (though this one I put at the bottom since it was a freebie depending on what you bought) and a refill for it all. That matched with a great sale on predatorRE and Im basically set for everything in reason, dont really feel a need to buy anything else
I have a feeling this years BF/christmas sales are going to be pretty large on the props store as well compared to previous years, you can sort of sense a bit of downturn in the amount on the store so i would expect existing REs to be on bigger discount to garner more sales
