Ozone 6 Announced!

Computer Music January 2015/CM212 issue just came out on Zinio, they give Ozone 6 a 10/10. They barely note the loss of reverb and don't even mention the loss of per-module presets. I've been reading them for years and never really thought their reviews were all that reliable, but I really can't believe how anyone could think Ozone 6 is a 10/10. Surprised they didn't give it an 11. Cause it's one higher.

In Ozone 5 each module had module specific presets that could be load/saved for just that module. So you could mix and match. It was removed in Ozone 6. In Ozone 6 Advanced plugin implementations there is per-module presets but that's a whole other thing and I don't have Advanced.

[Edit] So in Ozone 6 standard, you cant click on one of the modules, go to the presets selection window, click the 'change' button, and change from the 'global' presets to one of the individual modules presets folder ?

This is easily my biggest gripe so far. Huge oversight IMO and needs to be rectified. Seems like music radar is the one that never finds anything less than stellar. I do like their reviews and top "n" vsti lists, but I wouldn't expect to see many critical comments (or in-depth evaluation, for that matter).

Did they remove per module presets? I have not upgraded my 5 to 6 yet, but if this is the case, that's some serious crippling they did in the standard edition.

Yes, they have been removed, and the number of global presets substantially reduced as well. I get the whole "presets are not that useful in mastering" argument, but to have had them, and then be deprived is a blow. Likewise, I go through presets for inspiration, as well as looking for a good starting point.ksandvik wrote:Did they remove per module presets? I havent read this review but I must say that it sounds pretty wierd that v.6 is getting a review like that. I wonder how many free copys of their products Izotope had to give the CM staffmsorrels wrote:Computer Music January 2015/CM212 issue just came out on Zinio, they give Ozone 6 a 10/10. Not to mention the fact that not everybody uses Ozone for mastering.rustman wrote:Yes, they have been removed, and the number of global presets substantially reduced as well. I think the pre-module presets are still there. The global preset list has been reduced - I just upgraded last night. I did, however, copy my version 5 factory presets into the version 6 folder, and loaded one of the old mastering presets to see if it would work. It did. There's something in the manual about how the old presets will work, but that some may not, due to changes.rustman wrote:Yes, they have been removed, and the number of global presets substantially reduced as well. EDIT I'm also keeping version 5 installed. Normally I wouldn't, but I think that it may call for having both installed. Not ideal... but...

Ugh, I might wait then for upgrading Ozone 6, the per module presets were nice to get a first cut on a quick master and then fine tune it along the way. Really sad if they crippled this nice feature.

Really puts me off buying computer music that review as if they say that about something I know a lot about how can I trust their reviews on other things?218 wrote:I havent read this review but I must say that it sounds pretty wierd that v.6 is getting a review like that.
