I changed the name and url now, so the old one wouldn't have worked anyway now. I reupped it so we'll see what happens.
You also need to add it to the Mantra Evo OSC Soundcloud group (not just post the link!). 3rd item along under the Soundcloud track, "Add to Group".

See the front page, "Here's how it works" item 3.

http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... 1&t=439602

Forgive me if you know all this already.

dB
I already did it with both tracks and soundcloud gave me a confirmed message that it was added, so i can't figure out what i've done wrong?
Maybe some addons are messing with me, like adblock or something, i'll disable them and try again.

Edit: submitted the thing for the third time, now with adblock disabled, all three times i got the same message though: 'Mantravision OSC 76 has been submitted, and is awaiting moderation.'

I guess is always funny to joke with one that never had one lesson of music or audio engeneering, sitting 3 years behind a PC trying to join knowledge in order to bring something up to himself and then just SHARE it on internet for those who might like and give value to his work.

This is not a question of beatassist.eu being a VSTi selling company cause its not, this was a personal project that i developed to fullfill my spare time. I was very happy for the things ive learnned but it seems i will not learn anything else here.

It is better to be ashamed (considering some of you) of sharing what i accomplished almost by my own, than to be happy and emotionaly disposed to continue learnning.

Now, besides one or two of you guys, who else made improvemments or shared info in order for me to get the synth working well?!! All just limited themselves to joke and point offensive criticism almost personal than rather to the synth.

I heard the entries to this month OSC that were published so far, i find them beatyfull, i cannot even see why you complain so much. The synth might suck a lot as you say, but what ive heard does not sucks at my ears nor inside my head. You make better music with this single synth than the one i make with my simple MiniNova synthesizer.

I didnt had dreams about this, thats for sure, but messing with SynthEdit and having a space to share what i do, sure was a joy. I guess i will continue to mess with SynthEdit but i will not share any of my creations.

It seems the wolves say i´m making the community worse than what it is, and there is no credit, just funny jokes.

Know what? you know and i believe in what you know so i´m out of this!

My only real problem with this synth is that for 15 days I couldn't get it to work without blowing up my PC and that was just trying to load patches. So eventually I just created a sound, played it and froze the track. That's the only way I was able to finish a track for this OSC.

To be fair, I have this problem with almost all SynthEdit synths as they are all 32 bit and my 64 bit system just doesn't like them, even with bridging. Some are better than others. This one was a big problem for me in just getting it to work.

Also to be fair, you yourself posted in the thread that you don't know much about actually creating synths and were just using SynthEdit more or less for fun. When you're no skilled at doing something, there are going to be problems. And when there are problems, in my case serious ones, people are going to complain. And not because they like to complain but because they really want to enter these things and make music. In spite of all my problems for 15 days, I never gave up and eventually came up with a track.

But it wasn't fun. It was more work than anything and music isn't supposed to be more work than fun. At least not for me. If I don't enjoy what I'm doing, I stop doing it.

So I'm sorry if you're offended, but when you put your work out there for people to use, they want to use it and when they can't use it properly or it gives them problems, it's not going to make them happy.

Certainly you can understand that.

FWIW, soundwise, when I could get it working, I got some interesting sounds out of it. Listen to my track and you'll hear for yourself. But I was exhausted after the effort and that was with only 7 instances.

My suggestion is to keep working on it. Study your craft. Learn how to really build these things as many have done, if that's something you really enjoy. If you've been able to come this far with zero technical knowledge, imagine how far you can go with a little education.

Its a shame that the developer of this synth has not been given more credit for their work.
I guess in this age of go out, buy all, get all, instant gratification, some people don't appreciate peoples hard work.
Oh well, that is the world we live in.

A big shout out to the DEV, please don't give in to the negativity.

Hey, don't close it. OK, you have some issues to iron out - good people will help and you WILL find them here. A work in progress is likely to have bugs/issues ... heck, even some of the best VSTi's out there for which people pay big money have problems, and have many more resources behind them.

I also admit it was a bit of a struggle to get good sounds, but I did manage and you can hear some of them in my track - there are 30 or so decent sounds.

When the concept and GUI controls are a bit different from those previous synths of course people will find things a "bit tricky". I had no problems using the synth in a number of 32 bit systems - no crashes at all.

Please don't let a few negative comments put you off your hobby - e.g. I like to take photos, I think they are OK to good (won some prizes!), but others will criticise the hell out of them - so what!

... and I really like doing these OSC's - I don't get to hit the high spots (except when there's only a few entries!!) - usually about halfway - that's fine.

Hope you like my entry anyway.

Cheers,

Rob (aka DoctorBob)

Oh, man, I feel your pain so much. And I've been one of the biggest assholes, I'm afraid, but I also shared my total joy with this thing. All first encounters cause some sort of trouble, and you have a very strange limitation of controls in there that is truly shocking to most musicians, who like working with synths.
Sure, once people start bitching about anything, many join just for the relief, you know. It would've been best, if you gave an introduction to your synth, rather than sitting on the side lines, getting hammered by bad comments.
Humility is a big deal, if it's balanced properly, because it provides a perspective as to whether one really understands where he's at or whether one doesn't seem to understand what's wrong. It's about being approachable.

Anyway, I hope you did find my notes here, too, because I was giving rather detailed feedback (except that my polyphony beef was with the weirdo lfo).

I have to tell you, because I know this to be totally true: You've created one big happy accident. Whether you realize this or not, I'm kinda happy about it, because I am having some good fun with it.

If you are having fun with this, you must continue!!! You really have to! Just skip the jokes and focus on the feedback, see, if you can make use of what you've learned. You essentially have a MASSIVE BETA crowd here and they're all doing there best to get the best of YOUR synth! Don't be all down about it, I know how upsetting it can be to see so much ungratefulness, but really...
Rest assured, you've created a weird ass little beast that can do some of the wackiest things I've ever heard and I'm stunned as to what I have already been able to do with it.
Would I like at least a few things to be better: YES SURE!!! ...but some of the crookedness would have to stay, really. It's bizarre fun! ;) :tu:

Personally I think the synth is really original and quirky. There are things that could be improved - but I really enjoy the way it works (or at least what I could glean from playing around with it).

Feel free to PM me if you want any hints on how to improve it.

Wagtunes: complaining about 32 bit VSTi not running in 64 bit is really not the fault of the VST author (as this is synthedit it can only be 32 bit). If your DAW is blowing up, then it means your DAWs bridge has a bug. Get in touch with the authors of your DAW rather than beating up on the VST author. 32->64 bridge is really hacky, but it seems to work more than fine on Renoise (under wine/linux in my case!) - and many other DAWs from what I can tell. The failsafe way would be to just run the 32 bit binary of your DAW and use only 32 bit VSTs.

I also ran the synth in my 32 bit MuLab DAW and it didn't work there either. In fact, I thought that DAW would be the one that would work.

He alienoiz,

please dont give it up !!!!

And at least not while SOME out of this small amount of people in here (maybe 60 )
?) have lost their connection to reality loooong ago it seems.

For me it is a great and outstanding synth which outstands in the mass just cause of its individuality.

Does anybody in here things H.G. has started his developping with Dreammachine 3 or Wheel of Fortune 6 ? I am sure he will rotate wherever he is about this behaviour.

I decided that the OSC just dont bring nothing for me in the long run but maybe just try too make a song with Mantra Evo just for solidarity, maybe someone else will do the same and just show how right alienoiz is to give us HIS dream to make OUR dreams come true.

Considering you not having any experience with sound design prior to making the synth i think you did very good! You would have to be a genious to make a perfect synth by then.
Speaking for myself i didn't know anything about the synth, synthedit or the creator of it when i first tried it a few days ago and i admit that i wasn't very impressed with the GUI and i found some of its features very strange.
I like weird things though even though it's not the most useful tool in existence it still makes unique sounds and is fun to play with, but by being somewhat weird (talking about the synth of course) it also becomes a bit funny and sometimes the fun can get a bit out of control and seem a bit meaner than it was meant to be.
I sincerely appologize for any inconsiderate remark i may have said or done. It was not my intention to bring you down and i feel ashamed of having contributed to that. :(

I think you have done a good job and i hope you'll reconsider and continue sharing your work. You will only become better at it with time.
Thank you for making the synth and sharing it with us inconsiderate bastards, i do appreciate your effort! :)

Edit: i also have to add that i used it in Renoise 64 bit with no problems, so the guys that complaints about it not working should get themselves a proper DAW. :D

Hello everyone, after a long absence. I still visit the forum and the soundcloud groups now and then. Still busy with "other things" and not all musical unfortunately. It's great to see OSC is still going strong and inspiring creativity.

Anyway I feel moved to reply to you TheBellows. I believe Sweirk was also made with SynthEdit. It helped me, and others make some very interesting sounds and I learned a lot from using it. Also this whole thing is about free synths and effects. Doubtless there are criticisms that could be made of Swierk, or any of the many other SynthEdit synths around but I don't accept the description of it as a toy.
I didn't describe it as a toy though, i was just questioning what it was. I was basically just wondering if it only looks old and outdated or if it actually is old and outdated.
Now that i made my first synth with it i see that it's more than a toy. Actually i found it quite fun to work with, though i still feel it's a bit outdated and i think i'll wait for a more up to date version to come along before i buy it.

All tracks have to be "approved" by Brian (ie "moderated") before they show up in the group. This is to stop tracks finding their way in without permission!

Of course, it's a real person (we think :D ), so it can take a little while before he gets around to it ... be patient ...

The thing is i first uploaded it several days ago and a lot of tracks were added to the group long after i uploaded it. That's why i find it a bit strange...

OK, Well, here's my submission. Might continue to tweak it, but would be interested to hear if any of you have thoughts about how it could be improved.

Edit - have uploaded new version (same link)

Tracked in Renoise

Now uses: 10 instances of Mantra Evo,

Renoise effects:

11 x DC offset
2 x signal follower
2 x gainer
9 x compressor
4 x HP filter
2 x maximizer
2 x 5 band EQ
5 x delay
2 x reverb

My entry:
https://soundcloud.com/hennessey/bh9090-mentat-roots

This was a challenge. The track was done on my Macbook with Window 8 running Reaper. The controls on this VSTi were really weird. Some strange combo of linear and circular? Reaper and the Macbook trackpad don't really gel when running Windows. Automation for the synth didn't work for me either. Enough belly aching, here are the stats:

Effects:
Usual suspects (Camel Crusher, TAL Reverb 2 and 3, TAL Dub Delay, and LoudMax) with Nasty DLA, Boot EQ, and Ferric TDS.
Reaper's EQ, Comp and Delay also used.

Instances: 29
