For a second there, I was worried that seeing an AU version would get me back to downloading yet more freeware I don't need. Luckily I recovered myself in a few seconds.

Antress Painkiller 3.84 is much better :)
Professional technicians are assessed by the abilities they possess.
Amateur technicians are assessed by the tools they possess - and the amount of those tools, with an obvious preference to the latest hyped ones.

So that would perhaps explain then why he has trouble downloading it...

"Oh noes - he's a drummer - you won't make me get onto that machine!"

Why is a drummer trying to download this thing, it's shite on drums? I swear KVR makes no sense sometimes.

Yeah, I feel you on this, makes sense, because it's not really that useful, I mean, I hear that it's good on vocals.
I almost didn't even try to download and license, after reading so much wailing and moaning in this thread. But I did, it installed easily, without the stupid and (in my view) dangerous Major Intrusive Special Cakewalk Install Controller. I won't have that sort of software within a mile of my PC.

But I'm totally glad I got the compressor. I didn't really have this type in its, let me say, 'pure' form. This is due to some long-time hassles I've had with a couple of the software companies that model this one well.No need to go into that, but from the way some of you talk about this plugin, it makes very clear that you've no idea the total classic this thing models. And I had heard, then quickly confirmed, this Cakewalk version does it as well or better than anybody.

Use it for drums? I won't go there either, but it is perfect for much else. This would never convince me to use their SONAR, but as a keyboardist, I do have their synths, and I think it is really tops of them to offer such an incredibly well-modelled classic comp for free before Cakewalk and their parent company go bankrupt. Who knows, maybe it will become a rare collectors item! Maybe get it while you can?

Such as vocals?

So finally had a time to play with it a bit more and I can't understand why people say it's not good on drums. Used it on drums on a track that was sent in and it worked like a charm. Could it be that it was because the drums sounded like farts?
No signature here!

Yes, some people for some reason don't like drums to sound like farts, so if that is what it did to yours this answers your question then.

Did you try it on vocals too b.t.w.? I seem to remember someone saying it's great for vocals...

Could be.

It´s also possible that they sounded like vocals. And remember, it is good on vocals.

But don´t try it on vocals that sound like drums, it WILL sound shite!
