The original target was March 31st, but Andy later said that last minute change to minimum phase filters would delay things a bit. So I think we're close.Twrogstudio wrote:Sorry to be a pest, but is it close?

News update: I've finished the minimum phase oversampler, and I'm back to getting the user interface done for the customisation of the circuit, as well as getting the build and release framework updated.
I've had a few delays, Windows decided to auto-update itself until it wouldn't boot, and I'm waiting on our code signing certificate on Windows to be updated with our latest business address - it runs out today.
The oversampler update went pretty well, normally minimum phase oversampling means you get a non-integer sample delay for all of your frequencies, but I've managed to design a good filter with 4 samples delay at DC all the way up to around 4 khz. This allows for the best time alignment possible even when using minimum phase oversampling since DAW's can only compensate for integer amounts of latency:

I'm pretty sure this is a first in plugin land as most developers that use such minimum phase don't even bother to report they introduce any latency to the host (well I'm yet to see one, but I'd love to hear otherwise!).

Looks like WIndows 10 decided to go "Creators (Auto) Update" on you...andy-cytomic wrote:I've had a few delays, Windows decided to auto-update itself until it wouldn't boot, and I'm waiting on our code signing certificate on Windows to be updated with our latest business address - it runs out today.
Hope things turn out fine soon. Can hardly wait for the Public Beta.

...Or you could just release the Mac version and let the Windows users suck it.andy-cytomic wrote:I've had a few delays, Windows decided to auto-update itself until it wouldn't boot, and I'm waiting on our code signing certificate on Windows to be updated with our latest business address - it runs out today.

I can release Windows VST no problems, it's just because Pace signing for AAX requires a windows code signing certificate, so I'll go ahead without Windows AAX the certificate still isn't through. Mac VST, AU, and AAX are all good.masterhiggins wrote:...Or you could just release the Mac version and let the Windows users suck it.andy-cytomic wrote:I've had a few delays, Windows decided to auto-update itself until it wouldn't boot, and I'm waiting on our code signing certificate on Windows to be updated with our latest business address - it runs out today.

Certificates and code signing all up to date and working, so things are looking good for a beta release within the next two of weeks

andy-cytomic wrote:Thanks for the suggestion about the sansamp. Is there are particular "best" model you would recommend to model? I had a quick look at a bunch of schematics for different models and most of them are hard clipping op-amps to the rails and providing some EQ shaping options, which doesn't look that interesting, so I'd be interested to hear what they do.
The beauty of the Sansamp PSA 1.1 is not just in the circuitry, but in how the user's interaction with the circuitry is guided by the interface. Dedicated pots for pre and power amp distortion, plus variable distortion intensity for lows/mids/highs via the buzz/punch/crunch pots let you dial in many flavours of distortion quickly and easily. I have yet to meet a monophonic signal to which it can't add depth, especially when used sparingly in parallel.
That said, the PSA has been emulated a few times already. If you want to offer something unique, I'd take a look at the Evol Fucifer. Based on the research I've done, it seems like the last word in rackmount, all-purpose distortion. It gets a lot of praise, incl. from guys like Joel Zimmerman/Deadmau5, who says "I use it on everything. It's my Frank's Red Hot". Assuming you can get your hands on one, you'd prob have to simplify the interface a bit, as it would prob. scare the sh*t out of most users (myself included!).

The company seems to be gone, no schematics seem to exist publicly available, and the last one I found to sell used was $3,699.music4film&TV wrote:If you want to offer something unique, I'd take a look at the Evol Fucifer. Wouldn't the schematics be available via the US Patent Office?Uncle E wrote:The company seems to be gone, no schematics seem to exist publicly available, and the last one I found to sell used was $3,699.
