Maybe not infringing, but it did sound like you were looking for a loophole.
Also saying things towards Tone 2 like "what are you going to do about it" does not help.

It's like avoiding taxes. It's legit but not very social.
If it were just information you were after, you could just have contacted Tone2. But I guess you already knew Tone2 isn't an easy player like Steve Duda.

My rights are fine. I don't see any problem in using Tone2 synths. So that I'm going to buy them when I have enough money :)
So, you don't create sounds in wavetable synths? Or do you stick to the wavetables that come with them?

I, for once, am an old fan of wavetable synths (since the times of the old PPG) and always wanted to use original wavetables. I was able to do that with Waldorf Microwaves, using SoundDiver (yes, SoundDiver was able to analyze a sound, and synthesize a wavetable out of it, and NO, they never claimed copyrights).

Then came Concrete FX Kubik. Then Reaktor (yes, it can do wavetables, although not creating them). Then Komplexer. Then Serum, then a lot of others, including Falcon and HALion. And I use AudioTerm, and WaveEdit. I am used to creating wavetables and exchange them between all these synths (at least the ones that allow loading wavetables). And I never care where I create the wavetables. They are done with MY sounds, therefore, they are MINE. Simple enough for you?
And what if you create your own wavetables genius?! You can use them in whatever way you want except to serve another product by another company! In that case you need to have a permission. If you don't like this, then don't buy the product! As simple as this.
I use the products 'normally'. If I create a wavetable I use it in another synth, I use it for the purpose of the music making not for advertising or making presets for that other synth and sell it!
Is it simple for you enough genius?
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

If you can scrape up the dough to buy Gladiator now, you could actually purchase both of them. BestService.de is having a two-for-one sale on Tone2 products.

This is really excellent! Thanks :tu:
Do you know till when this offer?

Still on today- I couldnt resist and got Gladiator and Icarus :-)
I have downloaded all their synth demos except Saurus as I don't need it. I gave them unbiased play and listen. Man! I really can't choose two of them! I thought Icarus and Gladiator would be the obvious choice, but I really begin to like Rayblaster and also Electra :-o

I need some more days to decide (and maybe I sell some synths meanwhile) :)

This reminds me of the Bricasti case, where the creator of the hardware said it's only OK to share any IR of the unit for free. Including them in other products or selling them was prohibited.

I'm not sure what the law says about this.

I already had Saurus (very underrated VA) and Electra so my choise was a 'little' easer...I didnt think I needed Icarus (I have Serum) but it realy is a different beast and quite unique sounding...again, TONE2 stuff ofen gets overlooked on KVR but is full of inovation and some truely unique features (Oh, and it sounds great....if you think its over polished/over-produced turn off some of the fx and bake your own presets!)
X32 Desk, i9 PC, S88MK3, S1, BWS, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6 Pro3, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone II, OP1-F, OPXY, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Folks, here's the reality, like it or not.

Step 1 - Pull up a wavetable in Icarus

Step 2 - Using Icarus built in tools, process said wavetable so that there is no audible way to determine it's the same wavetable.

Step 3 - Record a note of the new sound.

Step 4 - Bring recorded note into a sampler.

Step 5 - Process that note using 37 different FX.

Step 6 - Record THAT new sound.

Step 7 - Take THAT recorded sound and bring it into a granular synth.

Step 8 - Process THAT sound inside the granular synth.

Step 9 - Record THAT sound.

Step 10 - Take THAT recorded sound and sell it any damn way you please.

Let's see Tone 2 prove that the sound in Step 10 came from the sound in Step 1.

It's laughable. There is no way to enforce such a ludicrous restriction.

That's the reality. Don't like it? Want to call me a pirate, a thief, or whatever bad words you can think of? Be my guest. The above that I outlined goes on EVERY f**king DAY and nobody can do a DAMN thing about it.

But more importantly, Neither Tone 2 or any other company would even BOTHER to do anything about it because it just wouldn't be worth their time.

First off, unless I'm making godless amounts of money, there is nothing financially in it for them. I make about a few hundred dollars on a typical library I put out. They're going to hire a team of lawyers to come after that? Please, don't make me laugh.

Secondly, and more importantly, there would be no way to prove it. Because the sound would be so completely different from what I started with that no court in the world would side with them. I mean we're not even talking Robin Thicke/Marvin Gaye close here.

So you all can talk about how evil anybody is who does those 10 steps above until your hair turns purple. Nobody who does those 10 steps gives a crap. And ironically, in the grand scheme of things, neither will Tone 2 because it's just not worth their time.

And again, for the record, I have zero desire to do those 10 steps because it's not worth MY time either.

Now, literally ripping the sounds out of Tone 2 as is without any modification (if that's even possible) and selling them as your own? That's gonna get you screwed right up the ass because that's a case Tone 2 will win. And even then, it has to be worth their time meaning you have to be making a shit ton of money.

That's the reality folks. We can all live in this little dream Utopia world but it isn't how things are.

So, you wanna keep discussing this nonsense? Be my guest. I've said my peace on the subject and I'm done.

Yes you are right. Actually I always forget them! I remember that I liked Icarus when it was released and felt it was unique. But anyway, I didn't have the money or the complete will to buy it.

Yes, I was playing with presets and changing the modulations and parameters upside down to see what I can get, and I liked the results. RayBlaster especially I like the most as weird experimental synth, but still musical. Although I don't know exactly what kind of synthesis is that, but it reminds me little bit of Nuklear synth by Hamburg Audio.

Nemesis is also interesting, but let's see. I want to buy all them really but I will have money only for two I hope (in this 2 for 1 deals of course! :hihi: )

But thing is, I was not "looking for a loophole" and I don't understand how people come to that conclusion from my post, or any of them. I'm also not avoiding taxes or anything else that's fishy.

It clearly did not come across that way at all to me, tbh I thought it was perfectly obvious what you were asking and can't for the life of me understand how a few people seem to be misreading it.

Agreed. It was bizarre how it went full stinky end of the stick so fiercely.

All is not as plain as it seems here. Lets leave it at that.

It doesn't realy matter if you proccess a wavetable through a dozen plugins, effects and re-record it, if it has a waterprint from a tool like https://audiowatermarking.info - it's always there and it's pretty simple to proof from where it came or who made it. If someone claims his copyright on it, you may get into trouble.

But that is the point. It was always about importing our *own* samples, then slice them up in Wavetables, then save as .wav file.

There is no point in time where any content from the manufacturer of the software is involved. The claim of attempted copyright infringement is therefore moot.
