What is this based on? Have I missed some leaks? :wheee:
Might be I misunderstood it. So there’s no info/date when new version is coming?
I don't think so, but having looked at the data:
- v3.0 - Wed 20th May 2015
- v3.5 - Wed 24th May 2017
- v4.0 - Tue 22nd May 2018
- v4.5 - Tue 21st May 2019

it's hard to not get excited for 2nd half of May :)
That's assuming COVID hasn't pushed everything back a bit.

Also 4.6 was released in December or so. That had quite a few changes. I don't know if Presonus will release another update that soon after. They may wait until Fall.
Studio One // Bitwig // Logic Pro // Ableton // Reason // FLStudio // MPC // Force // Maschine

Not only this but if you look at the pattern... release of V3 till 3.5 were 2 years then 1 year till V4...
Means V3 till V4 = 3 years...
Even if the 4.5 release was after 1 year instead of 2 like in the V3 circle this doesn´t mean that we´ll see a V5 this may... chances are very good (due to covid lockdown as well) there we have still 1 year more to wait...

1. Improve some existing effects, such as EQ.
2. A better VU meter (with an RMS) with a built in trim function.
3. Mono/Stereo switch on a track channel (post) for testing purposes.

That's it.

Are there any specific features from Logic Pro you think they should incorporate? I think Logic Pro is probably much better at MIDI recording and editing.

It is the single most important feature missing and all of its competitors have it. Everything else people are suggesting are these niche nice-to-haves. Retrospective record is a borderline base level requirement!
Well put. Studio One is one of the last DAW's not having it. In Cubase I never use my record button when composing with MIDI. I play along and when I think I'm happy I hit shift+*.
Needing to hit the record button in Studio One when playing or just freaking with some parameters to capture it is really feeling old fashion and slow.

We should vote this one to the top of the list https://answers.presonus.com/3123/retro ... -recording

Personally I highly doubt that they would have released 4.6 as a free update while scheduling V5 for a much later release date. They then could have easily gotten away with incorporating all of V4.6 into V5 for a sooner V5 release instead. So 4.6 for me is much rather an indication than V5 can't be too far off (plus being a huge one) than the opposite.

Besides I don't see how the lockdown would afffect their development much, if at all. If they really seem to need to do much conferencing, then they can do that via Skype or whatever, plus if they meet up less, they have more time left to spend on actually coding. So again, if anything, I'd say it's more likely that Covid speeds up the development process rather than slowing it down.

Anyway, the developers, don't they live in Germany? So, I get it that they used to communicate through the net with the management in the US.
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Post

I would hope/assume they communicate a lot more within the team than with their management though...

Does the welcome screen contain any hidden clues to version 5.0?
Besides the posters on the wall signifying each version, even 4.5.

I'm getting an old school analog setup to a new school digital setup type of vibe...

Hmm...definitely would have a hard time balancing the stereo image with that particular monitoring setup. Guess that's what's the headphones are for.

Post

Apologies if already mentioned, but I for one still want to be able to use and external editor, and maybe support RX Connect.

That's one of the new features in Studio One 5, studio monitor balancing compensation. There is the clue folks :D
Mac Mini M4 Pro | 14 Cores (10P/4E) | 48GB RAM | Studio One | Reason | Bitwig Studio | Logic Pro | FL Studio | Cubase Pro | Waveform | Reaper | Renoise | ~1000 VSTs/AUs | ~350 REs

I believe I have found the missing monitor for the balancing compensation update.

But, I found a new clue, the Pizza book... What do they got cooking up for Version 5.0?

I'm really curious now if Presonus Software will still release Studio One 5 this month. If the current sale is really running until the end of May, I can't really see that them releasing it in May.

I could see them pushing things back if they were scheduled for this year, but next year or months from now seems more likely.

This is a good thing, it gives them time to implement and test that new clip launcher. :)
