A way to create a Dual patch from 2 single patches is this:
- Load a single patch in the 1st instance of OBsession
- if needed change voices to 16 (right-click menu or the Dual/Split modes drop-down menu)
- At the drop-down menu in the upper left select "Dual"
- open a 2nd instance of OBsession
- load another single patch in the 2nd instance
- in the 2nd instance click on "copy part" in the right-click menu
- go back to the 1st instance and open part B there (by clicking at "B")
- click on "paste part" from the right-click menu which adds the OSc/Filter/enveleop settings of teh second patch to Part B of the first instance
- you can flip the parts with "swap parst" from the right click menu
- in this example the modulation + mod matrix + FX settings from the first instance/patch will be used. The volume knob is global too but you got the balance fader to adjust the volume of the parts.

This sounds complicated at a first look but gets very easy when you get used to it.
Copy/Paste does not just work for Dual/Split parts but also for the voice trimmers of a certain voice.
When you open one of the voice edit pages then in the right-click menu you get 2 options called "Copy Trimmers" and "Paste Trimmers". You can use this to copy/paste voice trimmers inside a single part of a patch (from one voice to another one), between 2 parts of a Dual/split patch and also between 2 instances of OBsession and/or between 2 patches.
Yup- now I have bought it and being playing with the full version (which has a bunch of split pre-sets) I can see that the A - B is more of a 'slide to a variation of A' device rather than a morph between two patches...to many elements of A and B have to be the same to really get something substantially different...still useful, but not as useful as being able to morph/layer/split two completely independent patches.
Of course you can have bigger differnces between Dual parts A and B. Depends on the patch.
In my Pads presets called "Blue Planet IW" and "Marimba Heaven IW" the difference between the parts seems to be bigger.

Yes, they sound pretty good (took me a while to find them as there is no separate folder or tag for 'dual' as there is for split)

Just bought Obsession. Excellent synth, loving the vibe! This synth really has character! Great job, Synapse Audio & the preset guys!

if it sounds as good as their "legend" plugin its more or less a no brainer for oberheim hunters. paranoid hunters just wait for a starsky carr test on youtube ;D

Great synth, always a lot of naysayers at the beginning and then they eventually succumb, buckle under then bow. This was the case with Hive :)

Obsession Feature Request, voice randomization amount Knob, right now you can only choose between full randomization or initialize voice adjustments, a macro knob to control this would be cool and make fine tuning the the amount of randomness less tedious than adjusting each voice one by one.

Organic knob? Controls the amount of modulation of all sound parameters in all voices randomly. It's great when you modulate this parameter with, f.e., the mod wheel, for real time control of analog randomness.

The reverb is excellent. So excellent, that quite a few patches don't demonstrate the quality of the Oberheim emulation, but the implementation of that reverb. Not complaining. ObsessionFX would be great, though.

Question: Is there a way to pan part A and B to different sides? and also do these parts share the voice randomization?

The problem with that knob is it creates a sort of lfo to pitch modulation, so it's not exactly a global randomization knob as it introduces that to the tone.

The organic knob as I understand it seems to modulate ( positively or negatively) the value you've set to each voice by assigning it a Lfo, that why you get the sort of drift vibrato pitch modulation.

First 10 minutes was pretty confusing as the init patch is a crossfade between patch A and B, leading to some strange behaviour when turning the filter knob etc... (and still hearing a tone etc) Took me a while to figure out. So the question now, does it have the ability to pan spread the voices? I've looked around but havent found it so far.

Edit: Alright so apparently the spread knob actually does this, but nothing happens when I turn it so far. I figured it might be a voice detune "spread" but didnt hear anything.

Spread knob pans spreads voices, specially when the voice Pan trimmers are set to L and R alternately, such as when you you use any of the Init patches (browser), or you use the "Initialize Voice Adjustments" right-click command.

If the Pan trimmers are set to center, nothing will happen with the Spread knob.

Gotcha thanks. A little strange to not just have settings set in the init patch but nice to see it's there :)
