Recommending charities is a good thought, but a recommendation would constitute a (more or less explicit) political statement. And we are also not in the business of making those.

So if you wish to donate to a charity, do so to one of your choosing, and know we appreciate it. There is certainly much suffering in the world and many good people working to alleviate it who need that support more than we do.
I was thinking of a music-related charity like getting instruments into the hands of poor kids who want to learn. That sort of thing.
I started on Logic 5 with a PowerBook G4 550Mhz. I now have a MacBook Air M1 and it's ~165x faster! So, why is my music not proportionally better? :(

I don’t think any of us would mind if you helped support a community oriented music education program. In fact I think it could be nice. But selecting one, and moreover, selecting one over other charities people could choose that have a positive impact in their community or the world would be tricky for the team.

That said, it’s a lovely complement when people do want to contribute dollars, but the team dynamics work much better having this entire project be a gift economy / hobby endeavor for a variety of reasons, including philosophical (I’m doing it to give a gift to musicians for instance, plus a bit to sort of push around the edge of what’s possible with open source which is open contribution) and practical (If we got 78 dollars of donations how would we split it between all the contributors) which if we had to resolve would change the nature of the project a lot.

Finally, I’ll add that one other form of donation is making and sharing music with the tools. I love listening to stuff people write with surge six sines shortcircuit and so on.
