I like this channel strip.
I think it is way overpriced and do not like the PA marketing. I wish you change. Look what TDR or Fabfilter are doing .
Please add oversampling option.
Please decramp the top Bell.
Please adjust the frequency UI point of the sheen and glow to make it continuisly consistent between switches.
Please fix the 0.5 dB lift under the mono frequency point.

With those issues adressed, I would be a lot more satisfied and would use it better on more sources.

I understand your wishes and especially your wish about behavior in this forum. But that is like beating waves into the sea with a stick.
It's best to keep as far away from such forums as possible and just concentrate your creative energy on the really important things. Cheers

Sub to own!! Just gotta be patient and use the plugins full tilt on the sub until it goes on sale and then you can do what I do! I've picked up their AMEK EQ, Lindell 80, SHMC Class A, for $50 or less with vouchers and sales. The system rewards you in the end! I think the full price is for established studios who can write this stuff off anyways and also make back the money in one session. In this case getting $950 retail worth of plugins for $20 is a matter of patience.

You seem to forget that you now payed 269 dollars for 3 plugins which aren't worth 269 imo.

They all are very good plugins. I also bought them but for much more reasonable prices and I wouldn't have bought them at all for that price.

Hate to break it to you but i don't think the price-tags their are actual worth to anyone but PA.

If i bought 3 PA plugins, 950$ retail, i could sell them for 60$ tops.
If (when) i bought 950$ retail plugins of some other vendors, i could sell them at 30% or so loss (sometimes even no loss when bought on sale).

Frankly, i think their rent-to-own model is fair (although convoluted and annoying) and the sale price of plugins (29$/plug) okay for what they are, but retail prices are a joke.

Plugins are worth $30, from Waves or PA. I will buy the 9000J and the Lindell 50 when they are < $30. Just like I did with the SSL G, Lindell 80, Townhouse, etc.

I'll wait a while, but it won't be that long.

And in the spirit of the thread, I'm not into the new Amek strip.

The compressor is a digital thing from the 90s, going in and out of DAC. I, of course, respect Neve's work and choices, but DAC wasn't that great back then and DSP code and power was in infancy compared to today. Plus, even though they own the Amek brand, BX couldn't/wouldn't look at the digital code, so they had to reverse engineer it to boot.

I have little confidence in BX for compressor modeling without hand-holding from a larger brand. Their SSL compressors are very good, but I think that's because SSL is part of the process and they sign off on the quality. Their BX Focusrite strip compressor sounds really bad IMO, no way that's what the original unit is like. I'm not even going to bother testing the Amek compressor until I hear someone say the thing is somehow fantastic.

The gate in the Amek strip is good but that's not the original gate. I have plenty of gates.

And for the EQ, I honestly don't care. It's the typical super wide treatment that Neve liked for soft EQ. I know where the bandwidth knob is in my heavy duty EQs. I don't need an EQ from BX that is cramped and saturating without oversample just to get a few Neve-like super wide shelves/bells. The Focusrite is also Neve and has the super wide nodes too. It would be interesting to see a comparison. On the Focusrite, the low shelf set at 330hz reaches all the way into 4khz.

The THD is probably the same they have in every strip, instead of the actual sound of the console. The TMT hopefully less hamfisted than other BX strips, but still imagined stuff and not actually modeling the units. This time they even added the TMT to the compressor which is a digital thing that could not have tolerance issues. It's such a bold-faced gimmick. They could at least try to measure the channels and match the TMT to the hardware like Waves does with their console models, but BX simply cannot be bothered.

BX needs someone to oversee these things, or the strips just don't come out that good when BX are the ones running the project without having to secure someone's approval.

I'm not saying it's a bad strip, or that it sounds bad, I haven't even tested it. I'm just saying it's 2021, and we all have plenty of strips already. BX is just not doing enough to look at what we all can see and try to make something truly great. I can understand some compromises, but even for the areas that it would have been easy to stay true to the original hardware, BX just can't be bothered.

Lindell themselves are in a different league of this BX stuff. The Lindell 80 doesn't use the recycled THD and instead models the actual sound of the unit. All the modules sound great. And there's a menu with 1-16X oversample, so no need to argue about it. And look at all the versatility they packed into the 50.

These things are not luxuries in 2021, they are normal. Particularly at the BX list prices. It's currently "on sale" at $350. Right.

It's a nice emulation (as are Brainworx's SSL 9000J and Lindell's 50 series) and it seems to have impressed many people.

However, I much prefer the amazing Channev channel strip from Analog Obsession.
Not least because it's free (with patreon / donation options also available), it sounds great and it has a much simpler / less cluttered GUI than those PluginAlliance channel strips imho.

I'm really enjoying this one. The clean Neve EQ sounds good, and the large number of features make it flexible for sculpting and problem solving. I forgive deviations from the original hardware because Brainworx is branding this as a later iteration called the 9099. My biggest complaint is that the UI setting isn't remembered--the fingerprint smudges are gross.

I think people loudly declaring cheap price thresholds may be trying to rationalize a fear-of-missing-out. The same happened with the SSL 9000 J, which received a lot of initial sarcasm and negativity on the usual forums yet went on to become well-regarded.

if you're referring to me, not really. I demoed it and i don't feel like i'm missing out at all.

Maybe people on the other side are rationalising their expense - that's the opposite cognitive bias of what you're referring to

I just had a very revealing read reading this entire thread and it should not have been brought back, there is a fine line between legit complaints and a vendetta, just looking for reasons to attack a company...but in this case it's also a person and in this thread was the talk of judging the mental health of people..locked, notes made and I would suggest some people sticking to facts, not personal attacks...only quoting this because I agree :tu:
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.
