Pretty good specs. Limiting it to 8-note poly suggests it might be quite CPU heavy, given the specs. I wonder if they started on this after the DSK56K team proposed the XT and demoed it to them...

Most of the people who come here are genuinely looking for reliable information that they can trust from their peers. If that’s your intention, then in the future, it would be helpful to provide some sort of evidence that we can follow up on other than just taking your word for it.
If you make a statement of fact, please include a link that supports your claim. It’s that simple. That’s the responsible and courteous thing to do. Otherwise, we have no way of confirming the information that you’re sharing. Thanks.

Free the consumer mind with some facts now.
With that said; its two more days or so until the release.

The original had 8 voices also, if you read the white paper the make a big deal about the custom chips, wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't do some chip emulations of their own and are running some of the original 8 voice code, or at least using the original code as a kind of roadmapbeely wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 8:46 pm Pretty good specs. I am quite excited about this

I know - all the more interesting as the DSP56K guys showed them Xenia and they liked it but deemed the CPU use too high to make a commercial plugin because of their emulation system.IvyBirds wrote: Tue Aug 20, 2024 11:07 pm The original had 8 voices also, if you read the white paper the make a big deal about the custom chips, wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't do some chip emulations of their own and are running some of the original 8 voice code, or at least using the original code as a kind of roadmap
So perhaps they then decided to do theirs "properly", and make it a MK1 to differentiate it...

So maybe it is just Xenia and all the talk of accuracy is there to handwave over the resource usage.
Certainly the only other Dev out there known for that kind of painstaking digital chip emulation is Plogue and they seem too busy to me, to be assisting other companies.
I'm still inclined to think Waldorf are better off sticking to smaller pieces of hardware. Though the Waldorf M shows what an enthusiastic dev can do to keep the ball rolling with a much more expensive piece of hardware.

...from another Board.
Its their recreation of the Microwave 1, which still had analog Filters. So slightly different and cannot be reproduced 1:1 with the DSP56300 emulation.
Also, I don't believe the "digital bits" of the Microwave run on the Motorola 563xx series of chips. So there is no way to run the original source code on the DSP56300 emulator even if one were to take out the Microwave EPROM and make a copy of it using an EPROM programmer/burner.
https://gearspace.com/board/electronic- ... gin-2.htmlExactly, Microwave 1 and Microwave 2 are totally different in terms of DSP engine and technologies; also in Sound. While the Microwave 2 and Microwave XT actually share the same DSP.
