A new configuration... on the other side of the room now. Sabrina is pissed because summertime = fleas when you live by the beach.
...also because her beats do not sound pro.

Do you have to move your keyboards every time you need to use them? They look awkward at that angle to the desk and chair.justin3am wrote:

There is a weird depth of field thing going on... there is actually just enough space for me to stand between the desk and the keyboards. There is also a great deal more space between the keyboards and the bookshelves than there appears to be. I think I'm just a shitty photographer.RyanG wrote:Do you have to move your keyboards every time you need to use them? They look awkward at that angle to the desk and chair.justin3am wrote:

It's not bad... I had a friend replace all the encoders with Alps encoders that don't have detents, they now feel just like the knobs on the Kore controller. It has really squishy aftertouch with a pretty long throw which a lot of people don't like but I do. I only use it to control the hardware for previewing and controlling parameters that don't have dedicated knobs. Also notes are triggered before the key hits the bottom of the keybed... again, I have found this useful for somethings but I can understand how it would be frustrating to people that just want a keyboard to feel like a keyboard.ouroboros wrote:do you like the axiom?

This is my temporary space while my new studio is under construction (can't my drum kit and some other things in this temporary space):

Here's the studio under construction:

How it currently looks:

How it should ideally look when I'm done:

Those K+Hs are absolutely gorgeous! I ended up getting a pair of the Digi RM2s (not shown above) at a stupid good price, they aren't really much to look at, but they sound really nice. They share the O300's amazing detail at low levels. How are you liking yours?

The RM2's are very nice indeed. I tested them at a store once, but regrettably they were just taken out of the box for a few hours and were not burned in properly yet (the RM2's require burn-in time to loosen up the bass driver). I had tested them against the JBL 4328's (I know, not a fair fight), and unfortunately due to not being burnt in properly, the RM2's didn't test noticeably better than the 4328's. I thought the bass detail at low volume level was awesome though (the difference was very noticeable too)--all monitor designers should incorporate that design. Sound On Sound gave the RM2's a glowing review and actually mentioned that it was competitive even against monitors like the K+H 300D's, though being in a different price range and using a two-way design.justin3am wrote:Those K+Hs are absolutely gorgeous! I got a killer deal on my 300D's too--$3,000 used off of ebay, and only 9 months old. I was the only person that bid on them too! I love them to bits, obviously. One of the best monitors I've ever heard for sure--totally accurate. They sound awesome with any material--from orchestral, electronic, rock, jazz, pop, to whatever you throw at it. Not using any port holes, its bass also goes down even lower than the spec'd 40Hz (below 40Hz the level will drop gradually). Now I just need to finish my studio so that the space will do justice to these German beauties.
I've seen people on gearslutz complain that they don't play loud enough or they sound a bit dark. I'm guessing they like destroying their hearing at ridiculously loud levels and try to use their nearfields like they are mains, and they are used to really bright and hyped high frequencies.
