Well, if you know two of them, you should be able to find the link between them, then work out the rest.

Gomez - Bring It On
Badly Drawn Boy - The Hour of Bewilderbeast

I suspect 2 and 5 were pretty difficult without knowing the connection! I would have chosen better-known albums, but...most of them looked pretty much the same even after I'd run them through my 'Contours' filter (Screamadelica, Franz Ferdinand and The XX were all blindingly obvious!)

Bob Geldof
John Donne
John Lennon

The link is a specific song (or, more precisely, a specific verse of that song).

I am an island. Entire of myself.
And when i get old. Older than today.
I'll never need anybody's help in any way.
(Looking after number one)
- misquotes of 'no man is an island' by donne, and 'help' by lennon.

This was one of the questions I rejected last month as being "trivially googlable". Maybe it's the unorthodox nature of the question that is throwing everyone.

OK, another clue: the song was written by one of the three, and contains modified quotations from the other two.

Correct! "Lookin' After No. 1" was written by Bob Geldof, and contains modified quotations from John Donne (from Meditation) and John Lennon (from "Help!").

(Sorry - I missed your earlier post. I should have refreshed the thread before clicking Submit.)
