Thanks, and to bendedavis as well.

I thought it probably would make a difference but wasn't sure how noticeable or important the improvement would be. I guess there might be a bigger difference for me with my monitors being directly on a desktop with drawers underneath that might resonate rather than being on speaker stands.

Right, something else to add to the shopping list when I next get paid

Chopper wrote:@the chase: good call on blocking the front opening on the alesis. you might improve the sound as well by placing the left speaker on the right and the right one on the left. I did that in a friend's studio with those, and having the tweeters on the outside improved the field.
Ah, good call. when I switch to them as a second reference source, the narrower stereo image can be a bit off-setting. Never thought about doing something about it. Cheers.

thanks for that link.
Gearslutz is mostly BS, talking out your ass etc. but that was actually a good read.

I'm not sure how much more I could improve my setup, right now new monitors will make the most improvement.

when I was in middle school we would feed my friends snake (typically a feild mouse), and then when it had swallowed the whole thing we would aggravate it, so it would regurgitate the mouse, and then we would rinse and repeat every 20 minutes. It was awesome.

I finally got a dual vertical display setup (24" x 2)!

Image

It's the best setup for working in a sequencer for me since I can have enough screen real estate in both horizontal and vertical directions--no more constant scrolling/expanding track lanes/piano roll octaves/measures!
