Might want to grab this one before it dissapears (it's bloody amazing) - and from a UK-based distro in this case!

While I know it is heresy, and the mere suggestion will lose me favour with the noise folk, emusic.com has four Merzbow albums available for download as mp3 - Tauromachine, Pulse Demon, Bastard Noise, Venereology, and a few compilation tracks and collaborations. Emusic also has a bunch of stuff from the Relapse/Release back catalog.

You get 50 free downloads for joining, and can quit without having to pay for a month. Need a credit card though (don't know if that's an issue).

Not heresy, except in the sense that an album like 'Pulse Demon' loses a lot of force and dynamics in mp3 format. Plus you don't get the added effect of staring at the cover art during the bombardment

Most noise artists tend to encourage downloading and file sharing - free publicity and all.

It loses something for sure, but the VBR mp3s at emusic aren't bad for quality. I find little difference listening to the mp3 on earphones compared to listening to the CD on earphones. (just make sure that SRS WOW shite is turned off on the player. Smeary, delay shite.)

It's a rather blissful experience listening to Pulse Demon while standing waiting at midnight for the streetcar to come.

About 40 minutes ago I put on my song Inescapable Mass Of Modernity and went about my web surfing business . . . I just now realized it's only 5:00 long and I've been listening to the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over and over . . . :-o

You might be trusting my ears more than I do. :-o I've never listened to emusic files on loudspeakers, so no real idea on the full extent of the damage by the encoding.

But at the very least, you could get all four albums there for free and then just drop the emusic account. If they suck, it cost nothing. Free sucking is the best kind of sucking there is.
