In this day and age we really shouldn't need to worry whether or not an app will run on our OS  They're all x86 architecture :x :x

Z, you need to engineer the new OS that works with everything

Well, they're not anymore with the advent of ARM... but really the problem is just the fact the vendors want control over their own OSes rather than adhering to standards. And there aren't really standards defined for all the stuff people need to do, especially newer stuff like multitouch or, for some reason, graphics. I would love to add another OS to the mix. ;)

Imagine an open source framework and server that allowed you to build a html5 GUI that uses some kind of socket technology to stream the audio from a synth, served from a server.

Then you could have all synths working cross platform

I guess you could VM the synth too. Browserling does VM, and its fairly fast.

Back in late 90's people thought high quality video streaming would never be possible, and now it is... so maybe some day we'll have this.

Guys/gals,

What about this one for an OSC?
PC and MAC, 32 and 64 bits and of course it's free.
Got it from bedroomproducersblog.

Dang, this one seems popular!

Honestly, if you peeps think it runs smooth, and reliable, I think we've got a no brainer. Test it out yourself, play some stuff, load/save a project, check instances, automation, CPU usage and latency / etc.

Hey people, I noticed that soundbanks are rarely chosen as a prize. Just throwing an idea out: What if you could choice 3 soundbanks? Would you be more likely to take that as a prize?

Maybe OSC winners don't need any soundbanks, they can design sounds by themselves. :hihi:

Right, I think this is the crux of the problem, especially given the talent shown by many, especially the top 5... maybe we could substitute a random participant prize for the 5th place? Might not go over as well with the generous devs, I dunno...

Actually... quite a few people do use presets. I'm a big fan of presets. Obviously Synths are going be vastly more popular, but I'm curious if preset prizes were bundled, it would be more attractive.
