Chris Strellis, I think the reason you are having problems with the URL for your song is that the parantheses are screwing up the messageboard link filter - probably some kind of escape issue since the phpBB system tries to automatically interpret URLs to make them links. It thinks the parenthesis demarcates a separate item. You could rename your file or try this URL:

The start of this track reminded me a bit of Space Oddity, but then it turned into a kind of psychedelic/celtic track with some Hollywood elements in the use of brass. I am a bit puzzled - to be honest I don't really like several of the elements, but they work wonderfully well together and have quite a cool feel as a whole. At the end synth elements set in and again it's a cohesive whole where it shouldn't be... Great track! I love it!
Thanks for reviewing and thanks for the possitive comments (and liking the track)

This time I did not specifically go for the Holliwood style, but I have been listening to too much Hans Zimmer scores lately. Especially his use of percussion and the way he mixes accoustic guitars in the scores had great influences on this track. I tried to stick to a theme here and evolve it through the use of many different instrumentations. This is something that can also remind a fair bit of film scoring, especially the use of brass as you mention. Williams is probably the master in this field, whom I have been listening too much of as well. His War of the Worlds is one of my favourites for a very long time and he should probably be heading for another oscar.

Thank you.

I was surprised how well this actually works although I agree with Marc JX8P about maybe layering the synths to separate it all out a bit more
Thanks, Caco and Marc JX8P! You're both absolutely right about the layering. I took your advice and now have a new version that sounds ten times better than the first. (But I wouldn't even think of resubmitting it. I just read last month's contest thread, after taking a month off from KVR. I wondered why it was so quiet here.)

Damn, I really need to get back to my song for this month. I've been so wrapped up in the Katrina Relief CD thing that it's hard to get any other work done.

Went back to it last night, though, and am making progress . . . so much to catch up on

Beardedone – This has a sort of cool ambient glitchiness that I find nice and relaxing.
Thanks so much Oddbods Finger. :D :D

I almost always hear the echo of Mike Oldfield in your work: that one hollow electric guitar lead, for example, backed up by the orchestral percussions.

Nice work.

I was hoping, though, that you'd do an orchestral piece for the Katrina CD. I was working on a trial play list using all the songs submitted for that so far and was really noticing that it could use one and you came to mind. He, he, can you get a piece done by Sunday? :hihi:

The motion has been seconded. All in favor say, "Aye." All opposed say, "Nay." They "Aye's" have it; motion carried.

Get back to work, Sepheritoh!

I'm in with a (reluctant - see submission thread) submission. And now I'm watching this thread.

respirator, at least your EXT set-up LOOKS like a modular preset patch ;)

But what you say about Dr. Robert Moog not liking computers in musics wrong. Check this out:

"I happen to think that computers are the most important thing to happen to musicians since the invention of cat-gut which was a long time ago. (Cat-gut of course is what violin strings are made out of.)"

Emdot: You're probably right. I remembered something from an interview, but can't find the source. My memory is more unstable than WinXP.

And probably just as inaccurate of a portrayal of the real thing.

You're keeping up on all the service pack updates, right? :hihi:

What. Is that the same as six pack updates?
