Okay, this isn't music-related but I think everyone needs to see this as it's a matter of national security... extra thanks goes out to BoingBoing for bringing the nefarious "rogue helicopter pilot" to everyone's attention...

There's only one word to describe this Herbie Hancock performance (ca 1984): Awesomeness.
GLHF! (Gandalf Lives, Hobbits Forever!)

interesting to see how serious the young Frank was, i know of his admiration of Varese (the artist Jean Dubuffet made some music with the help of Varese, it sounded very close to some of the sounds they produced)... if everyone dropped their preconceptions as Frank asked, it might have been excellent...
you can totally see the resemblence to Dweezil....
i'm not much of a Zappa fan as far as his tons of musical output, but i really, really love "Freak Out", friggen brilliant....

Yay! It's good to see that this FZ appearance is back on YouTube... A few months ago I first saw it and then told me pops all about it but it just went mysteriously offline when he tried to view it... BTW are the "shocked" emoticons for the fact that Zappa was on Steven Allen way back in '63 (his first TV appearance AFAIK) or for the fact that Zappa is clean-shaven?Voidoid Surrealist wrote:A young, clean-shaven Frank Zappa on The Steve Allen Show in 1963:

And also it looks like there's finally a couple of Guernica/Gurenika videos on YouTube as well...
and Jun Togawa actually moves from the mic stand a couple of times!
And speaking of Jun Togawa, I just got a DVD in the mail today which is circa '86 performing with Yapoos. There's a video for "Osozaki Girl" that is a serious dose of "WTF?!" (The video is on YouTube but the quality is so bad that I never made it past the first ten seconds... but the video is amazing; an even less coherent effort than the "Suki Suki Daisuki" video...)
And speaking of getting DVDs in the mail today, I also got the new Polysics CD single/DVD set with both of the "Strong Machine 2" videos on it... she's actually a much better dancer than the shite quality of YouTube would have one believe... at 640x480 and 29.97fps you can see the subtle nuances in her movements; granted she's kinda sloppy in that "I My Me Mine" solo performance... but the clip still won an award for Best Concept Video on the 2006 Space Shower TV Music Video Awards in Japan...
Anyway, enough of my babbling... who cares and who even knows exactly what I'm talking about...
