offthewall - Along The Road -> #1 - Creative instrumentation, a very welcome take on the popular midi file #1. In some spots, the timing seems a bit off or muddled, but ultimately a very relaxing sound, and a top-notch entry.

It's nice to be compared to as fine an artist as Mello, though I should be clear that I wasn't trying to mimic a certain sound; my working process is a bit unpredictable to me, so the results are rarely fully intended.Legion Hush wrote:Holy shit! Thanks for the quick review EV......that's most encouraging as I almost dumped the whole project. I'm not really a midi-mangler, just an old-school instrument player, so am not at all into the whole midi concept.
But there we have the beauty of these contests.....rise to the challenge and learn something new!
Thanks again.

Mello just PMd me and wanted me to tell you there is only "ONE" Mello.Echo Voodoo wrote:It's nice to be compared to as fine an artist as Mello, though I should be clear that I wasn't trying to mimic a certain sound; my working process is a bit unpredictable to me, so the results are rarely fully intended.Legion Hush wrote:Holy shit! Believe me... i *KNOW* you weren't trying to mimic Mellow....that's next to impossible.
But lo and behold, you did it and it's a good thing.
I personally like Mello's style (even though i think he's a douche).

Johnny Quest: Rockin version! Made me dance a little, at least my head was moving.
Havmod: What do you mean I am not tall enough for this ride?-) I thought the guitar was a little out of place, but everything else painted a really cool picture. Very well done. I love the carnival.
core: Smooth jazz. Probably will end up on "The Breeze" [smoothe jazz station]. Pretty sweet for diabetic depression though.
sttjelle: Super nice production! I wish you would let me in on how you were doing the guitar. Started out thinking it was a sampler instrument, but by the time the end rolled around, I wasn't sure. How is it done? You win a prize (see Snoops for details) for making me think so hard.
Ixox: Also another, "are those real" awards. Are you performing on acoustic stringed instruments? Sounds very live, and French. Nice job!

Trading votes for collabs? Sounds fishy. Sounds unethical. Makes me uneasy. But if you vote for me first, I could probably overlook all of that.mellotronaut wrote:No no,sHushibear, i only told you, i love EVE's tune and i'd like to do some collab with him, if he votes for my song this month

Thanks Max!Beardedone - On the road : A touch of "The never ending story". (how many times did you have to see it ?) ...and I like it (at 192kbps or not).
Thanks MaliceX.Beardedone - Well, it surely is a piece on the road. I love the 60's touch you have with the instrumentation (that typical cheesy organ sound that hurts my ears). The end is spot on.
Cheers,
Gordon
