I must say I'm not supprised at the direction Adobe is taking with Audition. After all, it is the best post production tool out there. However, I am very dissapointed. I was hoping against hope that they would make Auditon the best complete host/editor/workstation on the market. They never gave the indication that they were considering the above, but as I said, I was hopeful. Now it looks as though that is never going to happen. At least I can move on now, even though there is nothing I've found with a workflow that even comes close to Audition, and I've tried them all.

Audition CD5.5 has VST and AU effects support
Is this definitely true? I don't see any mention of VST support on the adobe site. I like to use Izotope Ozone with Audition 3 at the moment - so I'd be interested in this. Unless there are equivalent mastering tools in the new Audition (?)

Yes, definitely true. It is mentioned on this page of the Adobe site (scroll down to near the bottom):

http://www.adobe.com/products/audition/features.html

"Robust DSP effects:
Improve audio with professional effects and take advantage of the power of VST and Mac Audio Units support. Fix poor production audio, design soundscapes, create ambiance, and make your soundtrack match the high quality of your visuals."

Ohh - thanks. I didn't see that. Well, this looks interesting ;-)

And, of course, I'll assume that we can use 64 bit effects now. I've been using a 32 bit version of Ozone (together with jbridge) for Audition 3.

J Braner,

Ozone 4 x86 does work in Audition 3 and 64 bit will work in new version.
Ozone has a multi band compressor as standard from previous version.

The new mastering/restoration tools are a de- hummer, surround reverb, de-noiser
speech leveller and history tool.

I guess I can do away with rewire so this new version will be streamlined to avoid the glitches and just do audio to perfection.

Cheers

Oh - I couldn't get this to work. The 32 bit version is working fine - so I'd probably be better off not touching it ;-)

If you have 64 bit OS and 64 bit plugins no prob. Ozone 4 is both x86 and X64 compatible.
I also use some Focusrite plugs/vst within Audition 3 and sound nice.

45 more days...... can't wait !!!!!

Cheers

No more CD burning from within Audition...

Quite a few of us have requested this be added into the new version. I suspect we may see it added for Audition CS6.0 which is presumably going to be out for next year.

I have yet to decide whether to upgrade to 5.5 or wait. But I love Audition and may well run 3.0 and 5.5 side by side.

There doesn't seem to be many complaining about SOUNDBOOTH being dropped. i actually quite like it for 'quick and easy'. Not a patch on Wavelab 7 of course!
