are you sure that there arent any bugs with CPU consumption ?

I mean, I loaded NEW preset. CPU was 2.2 % (minihost). Then when playing one note it was 6.8 %. And then (when I released the key and there was no sound) CPU was constantly on ~ 23 %. Then when played it again went back to 6.8 %

Also, in Minihost in preset browser (which normally displays FXP presets), patch nr 00 is at first clean named " " (it's ok), but when you play some notes then some funny letters show and constantly change. So it's like at the beginning the preset 00 is named " " (it's good because Diversion has own preset management) but then it starts to constantly change with some funny letters (probably some unicode). And i have a strange feeling that it's related with CPU consumption

But the sound is great. I love that it's not another sine/saw/square anal crap ;) I mean - ENOUGH :) Want some analogue sounding synth go XILS-LAB. This is digital heaven :D :hihi:

Osc Morph windows and master morph are neat ideas. and the overall workflow is nice.

Overall, It's a great synth for those who produce modern genres (EDM, Pop, Dubstep, House etc.).

ps. ahh, one feature I miss is related with unison. in sylenth for example (i know - it didnt have unison on "global" level but for each oscillator) unison works in two modes - "normal" just like Diversion but you can also check "retrigger" button which makes the unison sound different (without that "piuuuu" sound at the beginning ;) ).

Yes, this is exactly that bug, which I hope already fixed. I'm sorry for my unclear post, I mean that overall high CPU consumption is not a bug. Diversion requires more resources by design. But some CPU spikes, like in your case, are the problem with denormals, which I have solved.

I'll try this. It's a funny case. :)

Yes, there is a "FREE" switch below each osc's XY, which acts like "RETRIGGER" one in Sylenth1. If turned on the osc produces a less aggressive unison sound.

Thanks for your feedback and pleasant words!

ok, great. I knew that it must be somewhere but quick demo at work was just too quick to find all features ;)

Some people keep saying that Diversion has problems with classic analog-style sounds.

Frankly, i dont think thats true.

I made a preset which imitates THE minimoog 'signature' sound, and personally i think it turned out rather nicely.

Download: http://www.kvraudio.com/banks.php?s=lis ... order=date

Use the XY morpher to quickly change the sound into more/different minimoog signature sounds.

@Dmitry: Fantastic work man. Your synth is truly different. I can only imagine the possibilities after seeing how easy it was to program that preset with just a few basic params. Cant wait to try it out more.

PS: I can confirm the funny behaviour in minihost. Nonsense chars that just keep changing where the preset name is supposed to be. Diversion also often uses up to 111% CPU for no apparent reason in minihost. (In other words its choking.) Also, using the XY morpher often generates massive CPU spikes. This happens in minihost and Studio One. (Which, btw, does show the parameter readouts in its built-in parameters display.) If i find anything else noteworthy i will let you know.

Thanks, ENV1! Nice preset you have posted. Yes, the fix covers these bugs. Let me know if you will find anything else, please.

Now I'm fixing several another important bugs, that are stated in this thread and posted to me via mail. After that I'll build the new installer v1.01 and will publish it. But if anyone experienced the same CPU related troubles too, you could download the single DLL with the spikes fix now from here: http://diversion-synth.com/Diversion.dll

I'm triyng to do my best to complete the update asap.

Post

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the CPU spikes when using the XY morpher still occur with the new DLL.

Check out the animated GIF below, this is with no sound playing, im only moving the XY lines, nothing more.

And unfortunately, the garbled-chars bug in minihost continues to exist as well:

WOW what a beast!
It is so whaacky-swoofy, clean and harsh.
New musthaver for modern electro-house-dupstepping nerds! :D

I think these days, the possibility to make such sounds fast and easy is essential for inspiration and flow.
It has something similar to massive or fm8 but the sounds can be made faster and with less effort and more joy.

Insane digital harshness for those who like to tear sounds apart and modulate the shit out of their waves. It just sounds right.

Seems like some russian synth revolution in the sphere of digital synths :)

My congratulations Dmitry! The synth will definitely find his market.

upd: it kinda reminds helix and image line synths, but it is better)
you can't stop what can't be stopped

ENV1, I PM'ed you with some details, check please. Thanks for the pictures.

Thanks Fluc, I'm very pleased!

Tried the new .dll of Diversion and the CPU spikes are gone (win7 x64, i7 930, cubase 6.0.3 x86, FLStudio 10).
Thank you for the quick fix :)

What happen if you adjust other buttons? Try. If the same, then the problem has an another reason.
