Jeepers, $250 to upgrade MAX. GR6 was £99, and effectively much cheaper in the half price Komplete 13 deal many of us got.

Seems a touch extreme to ask current users who have probably paid several hundred Euros in the past, to now pay €299 plus VAT (so €359) when a new user could get it from €399.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote: Fri Oct 30, 2020 9:32 pmNot true. New users would pay $/€100 more than the listed AmpliTube 5 MAX upgrade/crossgrade pricing for example. Please see the news for the information and it states the prices listed are upgrade/crossgrade and new users definitely show $/€100 more when on our site (just verified this yet again, since I thought there must be an error for people to miss/misunderstand this repeatedly but alas, it is there).DFoisie wrote: Thu Oct 29, 2020 5:36 pm Definitely disappointing, and herein lies the problem I've had with IKM for awhile: complete lack of loyalty towards those who have purchased in the past. Despite having total studio max 2, there is no upgrade pricing (same intro for everyone new/old) and the only option that will likely benefit me now (aside from the free version) is amp 5 max. I really enjoy your plugins, but the business choices are less than ideal. I understand its cheaper than me buying the expansions individually, but don't you see that people who have yet to invest anything in AmpliTube are to benefit exponentially more. Just makes no sense. I'm better off waiting till total studio 3 to upgrade than to buy amp 5 and have to try to sell it later (which im far too familiar dealing with when I chose to upgrade to total studio max 2). Rant over.

Are most updates from other companies not doing this the other way around, like they've already got the several hundred from their existing users, so only charge them around €100 for an upgrade?

Those prices refer to AT5 MAX. Current users may well have JamPoints that can be used, perhaps reducing the price to 210. If the user had AT4 MAX, then they would get 7 gear collections (those released since AT4 MAX was released), and the new features, new gear models, re-captured cabinets, integrated T-RackS FX etc. Not so shabby.
Users with AT4 MAX and those newer collections could upgrade to AT5 for 149.99 (or down to 106 with enough JamPoints).

Sometimes when dealing with IKM and Peter, I have to question myself whether English is my second language or whether is he replying with very crafty answers and I feel I have to carefully read every word like a rental lease. I never get a simple, yes or no. I get a "if you want all the new included gear you should buy the upgrade to Max".Mr Arkadin wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:45 pmBut apparently it's us that are stupid according to IK.easyrider wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 12:27 pm The fourth forum where AT5 confusion is rife and Ik reps are floundering.....

There is another thread going on about the Jam points mess. So in a scenario where you use Jam points to buy AT 5 Max and you decide to sell products you already own that helped accumulate those jam points, IKM places you in a negative Jam point system because you sold those duplicate products? Is that true?DarkStar wrote: Sat Oct 31, 2020 1:03 pm ^^^^

Users also may not have any jam points and they may have bought extra packs since buying MAX so it may only be a few gear collection's they are missing. Either way they are screwed over compared to new users if you want MAX 5.
You could upgrade MAX 4 to MAX 5 MAX for 360E and get a few new artist packs, or you could buy HELIX for the same amount of money and get 60+ amps, 30+ cabs, and 100+ new effects...or buy Scuffam and GR6...for the cost of an Amplitube upgrade!
People who had MAX are now being told by IK to buy the Standard version for 150E which seems kind of weird to me, like a downgrade.

The Upgrade pricing for loyal customers does not exist...if you spent €99 or €599 your crossgrade price is the same...
The IK model it’s all in one installer and it’s confusing platform induces anxiety amongst its user base...IK don’t listen to their customers...they dictate.
