"Fruity Loops" and "FL Studio" are perfect brands for the products. WHO did this, did a great job.. actually better than this couldn't be possible in this world
Becoming ontopic now.. when FL 5 will be out ?

let them work holy crap
i am sure that when fl studio 5 will come out
it will be a really beautifull software
hope this thread has allowed them to see what musicians users wanted , and i am sure that they are listening to any advices if they are possible and concrete , but now let them work
Peace

Actually it's the other way arround. We've had www.fruityloops.com for over 6 years and had more links to it than all combined Kellogs product domains together.Igor 4000 wrote:if you admit that you missed the class on trademark infringement.
It's just when we applied for (and got) the Fruityloops trademark in Europe that Kelloggs started acting funny.
Gol is right that they don't have a leg to stand on but we don't have the money to act on their charges. It already set us back about $15.000 just answering their letters, ...
What Gol is not right about is that they are gonna loose the case (they never did in any of the 27 Froot Loops cases so far).
They even went so far as claiming (and getting) the 'Tucan' from a company 'Tucan Golfclubs' or something like that who had been producing clubs under that name for over 50 years.

Anyway we look at it the word 'loop' is burnt by products like EJay & Acid. No one creating loops wants to be associated with anything called loops.gol wrote:As for the 'loop' name, I think there's still a need for drum machines, and if it's not FL it's gonna be another one..
Half of the people nagging about/shitting on Fruityloops don't have a clue what it does and assume it just mixes pre-canned loops (one of the things it's worse at

but I read the opposite(they never did in any of the 27 Froot Loops cases so far).
from what I read they lost that one as wellThey even went so far as claiming (and getting) the 'Tucan' from a company 'Tucan Golfclubs'

Our lawyer provided us with an 'official' list from the organisation that handles the US trademarks.gol wrote:but I read the opposite
That's the main problem : In the cases they don't win they let their money and time play in their advantage (with apeals nobody can afford, ...).gol wrote:from what I read they lost that one as well
In the Tucan case (which they lost) they (illegally) sent in a squat of suits to 'check out the companies books' ... making a lot of the Tucan staff think something was fishy and leave. I think they're out of business by now and guess who has the Tucan trademark now.
Anyway : We don't have the money ($15.000 so far) to spend on a name that's *costing* use money for the reasons we all know.

In other words: You're afraid they might check your books as well?

Not really : our books are as clean as they can be.jens wrote:In other words: You're afraid they might check your books as well ?
The problem was that the Tucan employees became insecure, lost their trust in the company and left.
I don't see anyone here leave the company because Kelloggs suits checking out the office.
On top of that we're in Belgium where it's 'not done' to have a competitor check out your office/books.
We'd probably just kick the hell out of those skinny accountants, film it and post it.

when a muso friend first told me about "this great program" called "fruityloops" i just smirked. with a name like that it couldn't be a serious app i thought.
of course now i've come around.
i thought the "fl studio" name was pretty good, got rid of the toy name but kept the history.
taking kentucky fried chicken as model, i suppose the next move is just "fls" with the fruit logo turning into some sort of non-fruit stylised shape ?
or take the windows 2000 or flash mx2004 approach ? that way you'd move to "fls05" which fits neatly for version number and the year ?
