t'was 8GB here. I'm not saying anything against the piano, I think a lot of it sounds swell in the video, but that I don't have 8 GB to spare for it and that I'm skeptical about "infinite velocities" meaning anything

Kontakt has had the AET morphing thing for years (not sure how widely used it is..) so the concept doesn't seem to be as revolutionary as made out. Would be interested to hear something like acoustic guitar to see if the approach is in any way superior to what's already out there.

Yeah, it seems the same thing to me. But "infinite"... and the vague description feels like a con.
I feel rather confident my gigantic samples library is a better piano for my use case, and I'm not needing n different colors of grand piano or trying to cover every base of orchestral or any of it, so the loss-leader of this piano is not so seductive to me, and I'm at the limit of free space where performance of the machine is a problem.

When I click on the Piano that you download from the site, it requests for an application vie a popup like this.

I've come to the conclusion that this plugin is a waste of time and effort to try and get working on the PC. Too many problems getting things to work and effort to download huge libraries. 6 Gig for the free Piano isn't worth it either... I'll stick to Addictive Keys Grand Piano which sounds good enough for me.

No problems installing on my PC. Works fine in Reaper and all of my other DAWs...

It is a free piano and it sounds great! Seems it is a subset of the samples of this 8Dio piano:

For a free sample pack it is very nice (if you have the space). It confirms my impression that its just a platform for their in house sound designers. I doubt that there is any resynthesis going on, or they would talk about it. I guess the “infinite” part is simply velocity within the layers…

On the other hand, if you think additive synthesis, one could base it on fft, and then interpolate between layers, store transformed frequency domain instead of the samples, and let the engine do the reverse fft…

How is the CPU consumption…???

I am sure it is probably just simple sample interpolation. CPU load is very low and the samples load very fast. It is a nice platform and you can make your own sounds quite easily using the samples and effects. Very well done IMHO!

Do you know where this was reported? A little strange if this piano was working on their demo videos, but not at product release time

Yep, I reported it! I've got some velocity tests I run and first time I heard this I was like "woah, I promised I'd stop slotting unnecessary 'like's in my dialogue, also, that sample map is well bad"

Countable, as its within 64-bit float representation…

But, if I think about it, its not even infinite, as only the mantissa is usable which limits it. But infinite certainly sounds better in snake oil speech….

Instead of a infinite velocity layers I would expect custom ramps/curves for velocity as a performance tool which fits to any midi keyboard/controller (something like Omnisphere f.e.). ADSR seems very limited as well.
For the next best thing it needs (at least for my taste) a lot deeper control and fine tuning options for some parts.
I mean its not bad at all, just I really cannot hear that overblown marketing things anymore (yes, I know most companies does similar but I just get tired of it).
However, I still think it has good potential.
