Diva's digital oscillator is pretty much a Jp8000. Although they didn't do the filters but I'm guessing a Jp 8000 owner in 1997 would be pleased with Diva's selection of filters.Lbdunequest wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 6:55 am JP8080 thats the only im interested, but its very biased by nostalgia from 17 years ago. Next year Yamaha is supposed to release the Montage M VST which will be AWM+FMX+AN1X.
Roland's VSTs aren't that great from a GUI standpoint. I have the JD800 expansion on their Roland Cloud VST that is basically the Jupiter X .Deisss wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:59 pmFunny I would put them very close to a Jupiter 8 or JX3P, as they are the 4 synths really able to nail that classic Roland brassy sound I still loveUncle E wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:00 pm I own both. They have great sound quality but are much less interesting sounding to me than almost any other Roland analog. Like really good vanilla.
Tried it, I didn't liked it at all, could be just the interface as I didn't spend a very long time on it, and I still own a JD-990 which got heavy use as I love what this unit can do, for very airy/ethereal pads it's a bliss.Uncle E wrote: Sat Jun 03, 2023 10:00 pm What's bad about the JD 800 plugin? I haven't tried it but the idea of using the JD-08 for hands-on control is appealing. A cool trick with the JD and JV's is that if you map your waveform to an expansion card, you can swap in a different card and get a whole new sound from it. I can't imagine Roland ever adding that feature to the plugins.
But still would like to see a digital version of it, so I can get rid of last piece of hardware...
I know! If I were brave enough I would try to port one of them, like the FS1r shouldn't be a too difficult unit to do, but I miss too much time to do something like this :/ When I read what kind of report Urs can pull to explain the details of his work, there is just so much dedication into any port...

Icarus 2 does the supersaw spot on and has great filters. 2 filters in fact. Envelopes with adjustable curves and many more features not present on the jp.jlgrimes11 wrote: Sun Dec 17, 2023 3:31 amDiva's digital oscillator is pretty much a Jp8000. Throughout his life, Le Caine pursued the idea of a “beautiful sound” —something meaningful, rich, complex, and imaginative. He wanted to overcome the popular perception of electronic instruments as sounding mechanical and uninteresting. According to Young, he wanted the electronic sackbut to be as satisfying as a violin, with the same nuance and variation, but easier to learn to play.
