I just tested the latest build. It loads fine on Maschine 3 on Mac.aymat wrote: Mon Oct 20, 2025 12:21 pm Sorry to bother everyone, I recently updated the jv880 emulator to the latest build and unfortunately it no longer loads in Maschine (works everywhere else though). Is there a place I can download previous builds? Any help would be extremely appreciated. Thank you

Looking forward to the "How to install" video for this one:autodafe wrote: Sun May 04, 2025 6:09 pm I have recently discovered this little FREE gem. It's a 100% clone of the original hardware (reverse engineering of the original chips) and load all sound cards from the JV-era, so you can gets tons of sounds.
I have tested it on my Mac and it works perfectly. Pity it doesn't have any control on the sounds/presets, so at the moment it's just a preset "player", hopefully the hardware part (controls, menu) will be implemented in the future...
It's freely downloadable from https://github.com/giulioz/jv880_juce but you'll need to find the firmware(s) on archive.org

Hi guys I am wondering is there any ADSR envelope setting in Virtual JV because it seems I can not find one.
Thank you

Make sure you're using the latest version.

JV synths don't use ADSR envelopes, its a 4 points Time/Level envelope. If you want an ADSR, just set point 1 Level to 0, point 2 Level to 100 Point 3 Time to max & Point 4 Level to 0, and modify the other values. But once you understand how these envelopes work they're easy to adjust.painpotato wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 5:41 am Hi guys I am wondering is there any ADSR envelope setting in Virtual JV because it seems I can not find one.

Yes looks like the Time|Level parameters are acting just like ADSR envelope!wikter wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 9:31 pmJV synths don't use ADSR envelopes, its a 4 points Time/Level envelope. Well, I have a JD08 and the envelopes are not so homogeneous, it includes some more points.painpotato wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 7:59 amYes looks like the Time|Level parameters are acting just like ADSR envelope!wikter wrote: Wed Nov 05, 2025 9:31 pmJV synths don't use ADSR envelopes, its a 4 points Time/Level envelope. And of course, buy the time SoundDiver was the software to get a fast preview of any rompler & digital synthesizer, trying to figure out of a 2 line display how a patch was built was a bit of a hard job. I used to draw with pen schemes in small cards & sticked to my romplers/synths to have a clearer view of what part/section to edit.
It's important to understand the structure at first to imagine the things you can do & the ones you can't, the power of these Romplers rely on its layer structure and modulation control, samples & filters are not the greatest sound of its time.

I own a hardware JV880 so would I be correct in saying that "Fair Use" would allow me to legally and morally download anything needed to make this plugin function?
It would be interesting to hear how they sound side by side although I haven't fired up the JV880 in quite some time.

Ok cool. I searched Archive.org for "JV880 Firmware" but got no results. I've downloaded the .vst3 plugin.
Is there a legal way to post the link (without violating KVR's TOS)?
Has the plugin been tested to function on Windows 11? Sorry, I haven't been following this thread closely.
I just hooked up the JV880 so I'm going to have a play.

I don't have any experience with a real JV-880, however I do have a JV-2080 sitting right here next to me, and the patches on the JV-2080 sound different (better, in my opinion). Take for instance the 'LA Session' patch on the Session board. If you have access to Roland Cloud, load it up and compare it to the 880's version. Totally different. That's how it sounds on my JV-2080. The difference is...extreme. I am not familiar with the architecture differences between the two, or if it's a matter of the JV-880 interpreting the patch a different way (duller, seems like the balance between the tones is off), but I prefer how this patch sounds on the JV-2080.

The JV-80 is a generation before the JV-1080/2080, and a generation again on to the XV-5080-era engine the Roland Cloud plugins are based on. Also the SRX cards used in the Roland Cloud stuff is a generation on from the earlier SR-JV cards used in the JV-80-era stuff - bigger samples, different patches etc. The SRX "Session" card is not the same thing as the earlier SR-JV "Session" card. So yes, there are lots of differences, you shouldn't expect them to sound the same.

Right - I'm talking about the SR-JV80-09 Session card which i have installed in my 2080. I am surprised at the somewhat huge-ish difference between it and the 880.

Do you mean the samples sound different, or the patches do? Or is it just an overall sound quality thing?
The 880 hardware is supposed to have a very good output, which probably isn't represented well in the plugin. Note also the 880 plugin does resampling because the hardware works I believe at 32KHz, but you're probably running it in your DAW at 44.1 or 48KHz, and I believe the resampling at this time is not super high quality.

In the patch I tested - LA Session from the srjv80 09 session board - the overall patch is different on the 880. As in, it is duller, seems like the velocity switching between tones is off, it is less 'attacky', and in my opinion sounds like a totally different (in a yuck type of way) patch as a result. Didn't do anything Starsky Carr with it in terms of a deep analysis - just played it straight on both. I know this patch well cuz i use it a lot.
