No problems in SX3.

1. Place dll in VST folder (i.e. Program Files/VST Plugins)
2. Start SX3
3. Press F3 for VST Instrument Panel
4. Load ChordSpace
5. Load any VST that produces sound (i.e. Hypersonic)
6. Add Midi Track to Project
7. Set Midi In to Chordspace
8. Set Midi Out to the VST loaded in step 5 (i.e. Hypersonic)

When you click on the hexagons in Chordspace VST you should hear a sound.

GREAT JOB nuff!

has anybody got it running in cubase without hanging chords? runs very erratic here (does not trigger all the time and if it does likes to "stick", same with mouse or midi)
You're my son, dude!

Working fine in FLS 5.02.

What would be a great function to add on when/if possible would be a 'strum' mode. :)

Okay now... as total newbie to harmonic theory (Harmonielehre, yeah I'm german) I'm kinda overrun with the GUI of ChordSpace ( www.chordspace.com ). Especially if it's aimed at the US meanings, not the latin ones.

Let's take that simple. I really don't have any idea about what I, II, VI or whatever that is. The most used chords in songs however are Dur/Minor, Moll/Maj, Sus/Dim?, 7th/septe) and 9th/terz. At least to me.

I didn't test this thing yet as I have to write the creator first if I might be able to take a look at it. But... from those who're already using it:

Where do I have to click to get my Dur (variation 1, variation 2, variation 3)?
Where do I have to click to get my Moll (variation 1, variation 2, variation 3)?
Where do I have to click to get my 7th (or add a 7th to my root chord)?
Where do I have to click to get my 9th (or add a 9th to my root chord)?

Like I said... I have no idea of harmonic theory as I never learned that. And every book is like a book with "7 seals" to me (even after reading some articles on the net). Not to mention that the difference between US writings and latin (euorpean) writings just confuses me. The screenshot even more.

Please... think of those who're not as skilled and are hard learners. Those who weren't blessed with piano lessons or "good music classes" (we never came out of the "childish beatclapping" phase, unfortunately).

PS:
Any news on the "midi trigger" via a keyboard functions? Didn't follow the whole thread.

Thanks for answering a total "dumbass". ;)

Compyfox: Here Is a pretty good place to start for an introduction to music theory, scroll down to diatonic triads in the lessons menu and then to roman numeral analysis to answer your question. If you aren't too familiar with scales, look at those lessons first.

While waiting for the ChordSpace check out the following tutorials:

Hi ...xander,
were you able to record to the piano roll? If so, how? (eXT?)

So does that mean that the hexagon containing the - is actually the core chord in major/minor, while let's say on Eb (like on the snapshot) and vi the Gb7 is actually the root chord with an added 7th, or is this a 7th variation, or...? ACK! o_O

I told you... every tutorial good and fine. But if it doesn't click for me, then I don't even understand the GUI from ChordSpace. Please... HELP!!!! (someone please add some additional tags for description - for total noobs!)

EDIT:
Is this all in major scale? o_O
Yeah according to hte Chord Calculator every note with a - behind it (for example Eb-) is the core note. So... does that mean all lowercase roman number (in this case ii, iii, vi, vii - however vii is a dimnished if I get that right). Do those hexagons actually change, also in terms of roman numbers if I hit another core note?

Then what about the inversions? Why can't I add to the core note a 7th (example again: Eb-, cause A7 sounds different).

The more I think about it, the more my head explodes. :cry:

All of the hexagons are some kind of four note chord.

ø = Minor 7th flat 5 or half diminished.
- = Minor 7th
7 = Dominant 7th
Δ = Major 7th
+ = Augmented 7th
6 = Sixth

If you want simple triads (at the moment) you'll need to mute the the 7th.

The structure follows an, essentially, major form with chords from the, various, parallel minor keys borrowed by modal interchange.

Now with improved MIDI jitter!
