funny, cos some ppl round here say the exact opposite, it's too clean and digital

anyway, you must be doing something wrong somewhere, but until you upload some examples, it's all meaningless words on a page

Not necessary (to be honest, this is too lazy for me). I asked about other observations and they are...different :) I compared a simple arp patch face-to-face with Hive, Falcon, Phase Plant and yes - I'm pretty sure it's the specific character in Dune oscillators design. As I said, it's very good for any atmospheric stuff which should "to breath" and for dirty midrange rhythmic bass sounds.

I agree, it kind of lacks definition. That is one aspect I meant earlier in the Dune: mostly just EDM? thread. The effects also have that wishy-washy, spacey character in my view.

:)
Even reverbs do sound different from each other

So, I'm not crazy and someone hears it. You described it correctly - lack of definition. The sound seems to be blurry and trying to take up more space than you expect.

Yes, and that is the main reason I never got Dune, although on paper it has all the specs I would expect. I don't like its sound character, it is too modern for my taste.

and yet he says its too analogue.....

so which is it?

I've read new Dune 3 update is in beta testing. Anyone want to share if there will be improvements on the browser?

BONES wrote: Sat Jan 02, 2021 12:02 am No, preset management in DUNE is stuck in the 1990s, I'm afraid. It's a big part of the reason I almost never use it.
you mean... the sound isn't so important, it's the preset management that matters most..? :o
I am with Bones here.
They are other as good and better sounding synths whose workflow (which definitely includes preset management for me) suits me better.
They get used.

A better sounding synth than Dune 3? No way!
Always personal taste/choice.
But for me definitely, Zebra HZ, Omnisphere, Bazille, Diva, Repro and a few others, DS Thorn. Model 72, Massive X, Icarus 2....

I don't know why people want everything in one or most everything in one!

Why chain yourself with such conditions?! Just demo the synth and see if you like the character or not.

There are some successful synths that I really wanted to like a lot or to like enough to make them my favourite, but I couldn't! Synths like Serum, Phaseplant, Pigments, Hive and even Zebra! While synths like Dune 2/3, Massive/X, Largo and Factory just clicked with me in spite of the differences in characters (talking about wavetable synths).

In the end, I don't like only logic in arts and music! I use whatever inspire me even if it's a stick and an empty can! Talking about kid's bands like my neighbours kids singing and playing such instruments :hihi:
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

I dont get how people can say it sounds undefined or not clear, when a synth is a machine capable of producing literally infinite sounds. You mean to tell me that of those millions of sounds, none of them sound clear, or all of them sound undefined? Perhaps it is not the bow, nor the arrow...

Here's a test. It involves (in alphabetical order) ANA 2, Dune 3, Hive 2, and Sylenth 1, all with raw Saw waves. Tell me which one is which in order. It runs twice with a different order in the second four:

Osc Test

Here's the same test run just once:

Osc Test 2
