"In time, if sales go well I will look into doing a 64 bit version"

So i think we ought to see a 64bit version AT LEAST within the next year or so due to it's popularity. It's only one plug. Agreed? Yes? No?

Tim
Yes, there are already 64-bit VST 2.4 versions for Mac and Win, and a 64-bit AU :-) I need to update the FAQ!

I have no plans for a VST3 version at this time. I use a Framework called Juce to handle different plugin standards like RTAS, AU, and VST2.4, and I have invited Steinberg to code a Juce VST3 layer, but they have not been forthcoming. If they do this then Cytomic, and many other developers that use Juce like Slate Digital, Future Audio Workshop, Korg, Cycling 74, Sonalksis, and many more, can automatically support the VST3 standard. The only reasons Steinberg customers give me for wanting VST3 support is that Steinberg have made it easier on their user interfaces to route audio to external sidechain inputs for VST3 plugins. I asked Steinberg why they can't do that same thing for VST2.4 plugins, and they gave me no technical reason why they couldn't support exactly the same functionality. That to me means their reasons are purely political in trying to forward the VST3 plugin format, and this is being done at the expense of their customers who have to use the quadro bus hack to get external sidechain support from VST2.4 plugins.

If you have a reason other than sidechain handling for VST3 support please let me know.

What a shock, steiny, being standoffish? Truly shocking :hihi:

Nope! It's really just the sidechain thingy. Not a big deal, I'll just further use the Cubase comp for sidechain compression. I can't stand the quad channel solution :hihi:

Thanks for this great compressor by the way :tu:
Just bought it a few days ago :)

You're welcome with regards The Glue, thanks for buying a license!

Well if you feel like banging your head against the wall feel free to email Steinberg and ask why they can't support external sidechaining with VST2.4 plugins properly like every other host on the planet can! All they need to do is have a sub menu asking which bus layout you want to use when you add a VST 2.4 plugin that has twice as many inputs as outputs, for The Glue in stereo you would either have 2 x stereo inputs, or 1 x quadro input in the plugin menu. Not that hard really.

I'll do that :)

I used Cubase Studio 5 before. The Studio (Now it's called "Artist") version doesn't even support the quad channel solution.
Just upgraded to the full version of Cubase 6 a few weeks ago, so I'm used to have to use the Cubase compressor for sidechaining.

One of the reasons why I bought Cubase was that I thought that the inventor of the VST standard should have the best VST compatibility.....Now I can't even use VST 2.4 sidechaing and fxp/fxb presets properly :hihi:

Enough about Cubase. We don't want to spread to many bad vibes in this thread :hihi:

How about a 1 day only, 30% off sale?!

:hihi: (Yes I know, 'this plugin is soooo super awesome and thus I consider it already super low priced so I won't do this' but I thought I'd pose the thought anyways)

I'm not a big fan of such sales as I feel it penalises anyone that has bought the product while not on sale. I will be offering discounts to existing customers on The Drop (when it is ready!), and I will also offer the same total discount saving to new customers if they buy both The Glue and The Drop at once.

By the way for Cubase users you should have by now worked a simple trick out.

USE TEMPLATES.

I have several project style templates and each once has at lease one group/fx set up as a Quaddro Sidechain. Once one's set up you can simple duplicate that strip. Not complicated. Granted the VST3 has several benefits when in use, but it's not a deal breaker or major headache.

I would much rather see Cubase support vsti audio input, but hey...I gave up asking Stenberg as the 'Brick Wall' would polymorph myself into an occupant of a 'Padded Cell' Wall.

Good idea :)

I have several templates for Microtonic, Battery etc. But I never thought of a sidechain template.

Fancy sharing these :)

To be honest I can share but no real point.

You need to set them up for your individual setup. Mine are all routed individually in/out through the mixer and D/A interface.

Just set up a group channel for the quaddro 2.4 s/c work around and save as a template...done.
