This pics are kind of dark. I don't have a lot of gear, but I love what I have. I have an Ensoniq Mirage DSK-1 that I'll be adding soon.

The view outside my studio. I'm looking forward to moving back to Austin, Texas in a couple of weeks, but I don't know what my view will be then. I'll still come out here to the boonies to mix and make the loudest noises, so I don't really feel like I'm losing it.

I'm REALLY digging the Napa Valley cd cases as a modular enclosure. I never thought of that. Care to list what mods you had to do except for adding the power supply?justin3am wrote:what the hell, here is the current state of my space...

Yep, those are the trusty BX-8a's. My poor RM2's are in storage since I lost my lockout space and they are too big for my rig at home.debra1rlo wrote:Cool setup Justin. If I'm not mistaken, those monitors look like the ones I have.
Not much really. I had to take out the dividers which where just wooden dowels and I had to drill a hole in the base of the top case so I could feed power to the upper bus boards. I haven't installed the "real" rails yet but the modules fit in there with the standard Schroff rails just fine. When I discovered that I could build a PSU for about $30 and that EuroRack format is just as high as a CD is wide, I was like "I'm never paying $500+ for a case again!"Resonant- Serpent wrote:I'm REALLY digging the Napa Valley cd cases as a modular enclosure. What kind of test oscillator is that or is it a variable PSU? I used to hang out with Mike Brown (LiveWire) and he had a room full of these HP oscillators that he actually used for his music. Amazing sounding devices.

I had a PAIA modular, and a blacet case filled with modules, but I let them go about a year ago. I really miss them, and looking to get back into the modular goodness. Not having to drop large cash on a case will definitely help.

How do you add images to posts on KVR? I have a couple of studio shots I want to add. [/img]

I missed this part. It's a tube oscillator. It's packed up for the move right now, so I can't look up the actual model number. This one was made in 73? 74? by a company that usually sent them out as kits. This is a factory model, and has stood the test of time.justin3am wrote:

It goes all the way up to 200k, so I have to be careful. I was playing with it one time and hit the knob with my elbow. It didn't blow the speaker, but the dog across the street began howling. I picked it up on ebay for 20.00 + 20.00 shipping. They're listed pretty regularly. I love to run it through a ton of effects, and sweep the knob.
Edit: This is the model I have:

Cool, there is a surplus electronics store in Sun Valley, CA called APEX that has tons of this kind of stuff (it's where I got the PSU for my modular). I'm not in the market right now but their prices are regularly lower than eBay's. I'll probably go pick up an oscilloscope while I'm there.Resonant- Serpent wrote:It's a tube oscillator. Got myself a new toy:

Roland alpha Juno-1. For about 212$ how was I supposed to resist? It is just
on the bass front. My Mopho and the JP8000 have just got some heavy competition here. The filter does not self-oscillate but it has 14 different waveforms: 3 pulses, 5 saws, 7 subs and you can control the width of one of the pulses as well as one of the saws. That is extraordinary for an 80 analog synth, I would say. Strange that this thing did not achieve much attention when it entered the scene in 1985.
