How this has been handled so far it looks like a classic example of a shady company taking the money and running. It's like one day you go to their office to attend business and when you return next day there's only a lonely empty chair in the middle of the empty office floor and nobody can tell where the company disappeared.mhog wrote:The problem with C.A. is that everyone among Alchemy owners (myself included) was expecting Alchemy2 soon, and if you enter their forum there is absolutely no evidence of "crisis", "issues" or wathever. They introduced that sort of "your products online installer" just recently, and the "Alchemy 2" thread was updated almost daily. People have always believed CA were one of the most solid companies. On the contrary, I would have no big surprise if Spectrasonics or Lennardigital went out of business tomorrow, since everybody keep on asking for news and/or updates (Sylenth1 stucked to 32bit since 2008, Spectrasonics stationary, etc.). So: what's the straw that broke the camel's back? If the answer is "VAT", then I assume that only two or three companies will survive?PatchAdamz wrote:Camel Audio is a great company run by some very cool folks with excellent products.
It is indeed a shame to see them go but it should be understood that there must be situations beyond their control.
I seriously doubt that they want to close but unfortunately in this digital age, many companies dont always have the choice.
They will be seriously missed....
At least they could have sent out an e-mail with the same message that appeared in their account. But no, people got to know about it when logging in to their account. And then deleting forum posts and so on did make it even worse. Even saying that something is happening, don't worry but we can not tell more yet would have sufficed.
To their credit it seems that at least they have gotten their act a bit together as this week someone answered support e-mail quite promptly.

Well, they are all known for being gentlemen and fair people. That is why everyone was shocked and posts kittens. Main guesses over the net:robotmonkey wrote:How this has been handled so far it looks like a classic example of a shady company taking the money and running. (1) some tragic event. Thankfully people comfirmed they are all alive and kicking
(2) Apple bought CA. Not realistic, since CA don't produce any technology to exploit (such as redmatica, propellerhead, celemony etc.)
(3) oversaturated market + not enough sales + new EU VAT = bye bye.
I bet it's (3).

4) change location from UK- Scotland to USA - scenery change or because of new VAT laws or both?

So on page 178 the entire speculation carousel start all over again, looping back to page 1 of this thread.

170+ pages thread... and no a single input from CA... Their forum is locked. Site is limited to user account access. No email from CA to existing customers advising about change of plans. Well, this is what I call lack of professionalism. It is actually childish. Will avoid them in the future at all cost.

i am fairly sure that those guys will make use of their expertise under other brand or with some other company. if you could code quality software would you switch to making shoes? i guess you would not. so it is just a matter of time when CA crew will reappear in one form or the other. of course it is an educated guess

STOP DISCREDITING CA UNTIL WE KNOW THE FACTS (AND WHAT ELEMENTS THEY'RE STILL IN CONTROL OF)
And yes, I'm shouting

"I was wondering if you'd like to try Magic Mushrooms"
"Oooh I dont know. Sounds a bit scary"
"It's not scary. You just lose a sense of who you are and all that sh!t"

You also have na option for download only, for backup purposes. That option supposedly downloads ALL the items you own. And it works, except for the mentioned Cameleon Remixed. And instead of having to pick them one by one manually, you just hit downlad all, and that's it.mandolarian wrote:Twice.dnekm wrote:Common sense should prevail here....![]()
You want to make sure you have everything backed up fully, do it manually....
Anyway, I already have everything, and as workable options, and the installer install everything offline.
