I literally upgraded to Pro within 30 minutes of test driving the free edition. It was a selfish response, because I thought to myself, "this project needs to be successful".

No regrets!!!

Congrats Matt!!! :tu:

What kind of feature are you thinking?

Seems kind of a bad idea to have a free version and a pro version, where the same presets won't work on both. Kind of creates a big problem for both the preset sharing community, and the professional preset developers who are selling presets.

are there presets that don't work on the free version?

it's hard for me to grasp this; here's a developer generously offering a free version of his exceptional synth... and people still complain. :dog:

Not that I'm aware of. I suspect that the poster was suggesting to cripple the free version as an incentive to upgrade.

'cripple' is a hard word, but this is the point of 'free' vs 'paid'; like spotify, for example, or hulu, where you can pay to remove ads, or limitations.

free is a gift, and should be taken as such.

like you, i downloaded the free version, and shortly after, upgraded. well worth it.

Not that I know of. And that's sort of the point. What feature does he want to leave out that doesn't potentially affect that?

Maybe that other poster wants Matt to leave off the new undo/redo features. But I'm pretty sure most other people using the free version would be highly upset with that idea. lol

And I'm with you. It's great that Matt decided to release this under the GPL with both a free and paid versions. I can afford it, so I happily paid for the pro version, as I happy to help fund development for a project like this.

Adding "extra features" to the Pro such as more Wavetable Editor Tools and Browser Enhancements would not effects sharing presets.
Giving Theme access to Pro only, also, would not impact the sharing and distribution of Presets/Banks.
Visual candy etc.

i am sure Matt has thought through all these ideas.before this he released Helm as donationware so he knows the financial sustainability of his approach and he believes in opensource.one thing he regrets about releasing the free version is some people tend to undervalue his creation because it is free.

As reliable as facebook isn't, I did see a post about someone who's been beta testing the 1.5.1 update.

How true this is , your guess is as good as mine, but there is a video

Looks promising.

How true what is?

Databroth is well known as a plug-in tester who takes plugins quite extensively through their paces. And he created some of the presets for Vital. He definitely knows it inside and out.

Well i'd never heard of him, and just taking something off facebook isn't the best of sources, so I said it with a disclaimer.

That ok with you ?

Two hours of noodling? Without captions or commentary for context?

Sorry, but IMO it's unwatchable!!! I'd rather spend 2 hours noodling myself!
