Thanks for those Zappa links, Voidoid Surrealist.
Absolutely amazing. And even more amazing how Steve Allen tries to get away with his sort of "middle of the road" jokes (at least that's what they look/sound like to me, a non-native speaker) while Zappa is staying more or less all serious. Seems as if they expected some circus clown or whatever, not even remotely realizing how much of a serious musician Zappa already was.

Just ran into these the other day:
Most or all of these are Roxy Music live while Eno was in the band. I never really paid much attention to them, but from these you can really hear where Eno's early rock albums came from. Cool stuff and there are tons more there.

Yeah, it's amazing how lame Allen's attempts at humor are... the writers were obviously scrapping the bottom of the barrel for jokes...Sascha Franck wrote:And even more amazing how Steve Allen tries to get away with his sort of "middle of the road" jokes (at least that's what they look/sound like to me, a non-native speaker) while Zappa is staying more or less all serious.
edit: But just the same, I gotta hand it to Steve Allen for being "cutting-edge" enough back then to even have Zappa on the show and partaking in the cacophony of sounds...

Glad to hear it. It used to be impossible to find footage like that.emdot_ambient wrote:Thanks for these, I've been on a real reggae/sca/dub kick lately. This fits right inMr. Pimpleswurth wrote:I don't know how I missed these King Jammy vids before....
People always talk about King Tubby this or Lee Perry that....but Prince Jammy had some real great stuff also.
Can't forget Scientist. The soundtrack for the first Grand Theft Auto was stolen from the album "Scientist Rids the World of the Evil Curse of the Vampires" and he never got a dime for it. The court ruled that he was not a musical artist even though it's his name on the record.
You might enjoy some of my dub mixes:

I was searching youtube and I found this interesting video that someone shot in my hometown of SanPedro, CA. It's some artsy shots of the industrial areas set to some ambient music...you guys might actually like it...
and the other side of San Pedro....
These guys aren't very nice.
and here's one some German tourists shot of where we used to party and ride dirt-bikes.

Would you like me to get rid of it?
