i dont know why everyone is so stinking sensitive... I wasnt bashing freeamp, i was bashing this crazy convoluted way of getting a decent sound out it. I came here honestly asking to get a decent tone out of it. The Gui is excellent and it has a certain character i like in the sound, but it just seems to be soooo muddy.

You're welcome dickhead.Mutant wrote:Ok now i'm convinced that FreeAmp can't give me a proper high gain tone.TotcProductions wrote:Ok, another mp3...same riff I was using in the last two, except slightly tighter. This tone has a more "Boxy" quality to it...it's 4 tracks, 2 panned hard left and hard right, with the other two panned slightly off center, opposite eachother. 1 preset for the first 2, and 1 preset for the 2nd two.
FreeAmp2beta3-FightRiff-4layers
After listening, and playing a few different riffs...I've heard the lack of tightness that JBM was refferring to...maybe this can be solved with a better gate algorithm ()...either way, I still think it's very useful, has a damn sexy GUI, and for christ's sake, it's free people...may not fit all tastes, but I'll hold on to it.
Thanks Fretted Synth.
(BTW, works beautifully at 48khz/24 bit.Although, I forgot to dither it down in the mp3 above
)
Peace
Thank You Totc
For comparison you may want to listen to what Kazrog can do with his 6505 and few cab impulses.

I wasnt bashing freeamp... I was asking questions about it. When confronted with an ASS who implied I wanted a "GC" moron tone, i bashed his amazingly idiotic convoluted way of getting a decent tone from it.MelodyMan wrote:I suggest you buy one (GR, Amplitube take your pick),instead of bashing a great FREE offering.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:guitarzan wrote:Well, if you want an off the shelf "every dipshit in GC" type of tone - go for it. It really isn't manual labor to turn a few knobs to find the tone YOU want. That eXT rig took all of 5 minutes to assemble.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:why do all this when with guitar rig or podxt you can just dial it up? No crazy routing of other plugs required????
your process is convoluted. get over it.
i want an ampsim that works like an amp. plug in, move some knobs, nice tone.
not a spreadsheet.

that was an incredibly shallow journey for tone wasnt it?Mutant wrote:Ok now i'm convinced that FreeAmp can't give me a proper high gain tone.TotcProductions wrote:Ok, another mp3...same riff I was using in the last two, except slightly tighter. Thats why i wanted to be able to turn off it's cabsim completely (to save cpu) and use some external convolution plugin.koolkeys wrote:I wonder if it would be possible to add in the future a convolution module to FreeAmp2? This way we can add to the variety of tones, among other things. May be big on CPU, but most convolutions are.
Just an idea.

Im afraid of being called a "freeamp basher" but i dont think using other cab impulses will help....Mutant wrote:Thats why i wanted to be able to turn off it's cabsim completely (to save cpu) and use some external convolution plugin.koolkeys wrote:I wonder if it would be possible to add in the future a convolution module to FreeAmp2? Well i think it may help - maybe just a little bit but still it would be an additional way to improve FreeAmps sound.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:Im afraid of being called a "freeamp basher" but i dont think using other cab impulses will help....Mutant wrote:Thats why i wanted to be able to turn off it's cabsim completely (to save cpu) and use some external convolution plugin.koolkeys wrote:I wonder if it would be possible to add in the future a convolution module to FreeAmp2? what about a tuner pedal? it would be nice not to have to open another plugin just to check your tuning. But personally i like freeamp. it may not be the answer for everyone but hell its FREE

free does not nessecarily equal good.... i can give you a turd for free too... but i dont expect you would get any good sounds out of it.
anyway, i dont mean to call freeamp a turd, i just want to know how to get some more open, real sounds, instead of the mud that i am getting from it.
but yes, a tuner plugin is a nice idea.

You may use it for what it's good at: clean.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:free does not nessecarily equal good.... i can give you a turd for free too... but i dont expect you would get any good sounds out of it.

No, your doing it again right now..."crap"..."turd". It's a free amp sim. It does clean through lead tones better than a lot of commercially available stuff. It doesn't seem to do white-trash chug to your spec's, so move on. You ARE bashing it.Jason Brian Merrill wrote:free does not nessecarily equal good.... i can give you a turd for free too... but i dont expect you would get any good sounds out of it.

or a good rock tone, a good crunchy blues tone, a good blues-rock tone, a tight funk tone... etc etc...Mutant wrote:And you are bashing everyone who likes a good metal tone.guitarzan wrote:white-trash![]()

cause i havent heard freeamp achieve these things, yet. perhaps more noodling in it will help.
You know, its funny how sensitive people get. Reaper has been free for a long time, and i would ask questions, how do i do this? why does this work this way? How come this isnt implemented?
no one seems to mind...
but here, whoa, watch out, suddenly im the grinch that stole xmas.....
