It works a lot like fruity loops actually. Basically you have a drum line, two synth lines, and two kaoss pads with a few presets each that you can choose from.
You work inside individual patterns, and you can essentially sequence the patterns in something similar to playlist view in FL. The youtube video's really do this thing no justice. Ill Record a song I made with the DS10 and post it so you get a good idea. You got mixers, channel effects, you can adjust bpm, add swing...you can choose wave form, you can side chain (in a similar way that you would in reason) albeit all in the simplest possible form.
I think it is the greatest way for you to get someone to understand the absolute basics of electronic music sequencing and has a really authentic Nintendo 8-bit sound. but thats just my opinion
