Technically, it only makes sense to not add features from a beta to a major release. It is the standard way of doing things after all. So that's a silly thing to jump on Jorgen for.

There is NOTHING new ????
So many months withouth anything, silence radio on the forum from the dev, and nothing at all ????
On the other hand, lack of communication and lack of progress in general... We'd be much more understanding if he'd just tell us what's going on. And at this point, yes, we'd much rather it take a little longer for features to be added and bugs to be fixed as long as we were kept up to date with what is going on.

As a programmer myself, I can understand how things can get off track, how the original plan seemed great and made sense but when you sit down to code you end up doing something else entirely. Thats fine, but I've always had to fix up the projects and bring them up to spec. It's the responsible thing to do. And its the thing that helps you keep your job.

Jorgen, if you need help setting up a bug tracker or anything at all, just PM me.

Trying to sound a little more optimistic :)

... just have downloaded it... seriously ???

Even if I hadn't seen the "new" features during the betas, a jump from 2.0 to 2.5 is ridiculous.

What's next?

Energy XT 3.7 with a new color scheme!

[Which is NOT working off course, just to keep the authentic xt experience.]

I've been very level-headed and optimistic about all this up 'til now, but I'm really disappointed right now.

I can't in good conscious recommend Energy XT to anyone anymore and I feel bad about that. I might still hold out hope for XT2, but I will from this moment forward not require anyone else to.
agree ... i just might imagine that theis is a progressional delay and the website was made ready for launch this evening when presentation is over...

I know exactly what you mean. It happened to me too, with a tailor made system. If it was a program that many people bought, I'd apologize and start everything over.

you can, but i does take some work.

previously i'd tried getting vst versions of xt1 loaded in ableton live to transmit midi to the host, but i couldn't at first. a quick read of live's manual sorted that part out, so no need to save midi files as such... just record midi from xt1.4 or xt2 vst into live. that said... there are advantages in recording the midi from xt2 to xt1.4 first, to take advantage of the remove doubles, length quantize, etc features in xt1.4. i get hung notes sometimes when recording midi from xt2vst into live, and end up recording those tracks to 1.4vst and then on to live.

it's still a pita to save all instrument and insert presets and load them into live... and after everythings done you end up with your work in a daw that's reliable and nice for automating stuff, but horrible for midi editing.

i'll start a thread for porting work out of xt2 when i have the time.

it's a damn shame... xt2 looked like it could really have been good someday.

jorgen quotes via subz from This Thread

Code: Select all

"We are working on some deals, which will help the company get energyXT more known"
known for what?

Code: Select all

"this slows down the development (weekly betas for a little period until sept/okt)"
Huh?

Code: Select all

"i have been busy coding night and day for months."
Maybe he should get more sleep...

Code: Select all

"we are actually working more than ever even if it doesnt show right now."
So when will it show?

Code: Select all

"Id better get back to posting some weekly posting asap to show that we are around"
11 posts since he supposedly said that in August...all but a couple addressing license issues and answering noob questions

Sorry for my past optimism, seems you were right to be angry.

I haven't quite lost faith though, yet.

xt2 reminds me of this: http://www.wired.com/wired/archive/3.06/xanadu.html

the difference being that xanadu is something that has never been done before and poses probably the biggest programming challenge anyone has ever taken on. it's been in development for 42 years, but it was always intended to be free.

xt2, on the other hand, is supposed to be a daw with functionality similar to other daw's, with a more intelligent user interface. different scope, same result: fail.

Doesn't any of you live in L.A. ?
He's probably there at the NAMM show as far as I know. So if you want some answers... why not?

I'm awaiting a update for the mac version as well. I wouldn't mind AU support and midi export ;)

Didn't you know XT follows an inverse development cycle the higher the version the less features and more bugs. When I shelled out for XT 1.x ages ago I predicted this would grow to be a great program. I was wrong.

Podium is the nearest thing I guess, and it has amazing support and frequent updates. Myself I do everything in FL Studio these days having abandoned XT since midi note length/end quantize was removed.
