I accept your apology. Thank you for that. I think we can move on.

The filters on Synth Squad, best those on Tera... It can be heard. I think the modeling here, was just a job well done.
I'm tired of reading peoples ridiculous comments when they haven't even heard the freaking synths. (and btw: its beat, not best. I know i make mistakes, but this one is just too damn obvious)
best is correct...

and as a first impression, I am also thinking that the synth squad filters sound more appealing to me than Tera.

Guys, please can we leave other synths out of this thread? At least until our synths are released... :P

well, release them already then! :D

(edit: I've made all the examples mono and added 90% pulse to them as well, and increased drive and reduced oversampling)

I've updated all the sweeps with the correct oversampling code (I just had to reverse the order of the stages).

First up just plain sweeps of Sin, Tri, Saw, Sqr (50%), Pls (90%), then Sync on all of them with filter drive at -12 dB, amp 0 dB, as you can hear there isn't much difference since the osc are already band limited:

http://www.vellocet.com/SynthSquadAudio ... ps_x64.mp3

Second is all the same sweeps but with filter drive at 0 dB, amp +36 dB, as you can hear the oversampling removes the aliasing caused by the drive from the amp section completely (+48 dB more drive than the previous example):

You can also download the full quality version for closer inspection here (all uploaded now!):

Yes :)
best is correct...
Alright, then i learnt something new today :)

Okay. Just notice that I did not say they sounded bad in any way, i just said i thought it was a bad idea to judge anything and decide which is better without having tested the stuff.

Anyway, it doesn't matter, i'm just being a bit ..

better is a funny term... there are some technical qualities, such as the samples Andrew just posted. Clearly the x256 is 'better'.

but better is often used to describe a subjective personal preference as well.

Tera is a well crafted instrument, but even after extensive demo'ing, it just has never done it for me. Among the various sound demos for Synth Squad, I have heard qualities and characteristics that please my ears in ways Tera never has. So I feel fine saying I am excited about these synths based upon what I have heard.

cheers

There is no reason you shouldn't feel fine saying that! I'm also excited about Cubase 5, but i haven't tried it either. But being excited is different than having concluded which is best :)

Anyway, lets stop discussing this matter and talk about the synths.

Cheers :)

From what I am aware... Nobody concluded which is best. I said, they seemed to best, or they bested ie they were better, I certainly didn't say they were best...

But hey...

It is the english language... It has a reputation for being illogical....

Anyways, I said the filters seemed better than a certain filter, I certainly didn't say they were best....

Hopefully that is making sense...

:P :P

Yeah its making sense, i just interpretted it wrong. You're right i'm not a native speaker heh (i'm Danish heh)

I just didn't get the "seemed" part in. Oh well, english is an rather illogical language as you said, and it didn't help for the understanding that I just replaced best with beats. Hence my "translation" was somewhat close to "these filters beats anything else", which pulled the trigger heh. Rough day :/

I have to say considering what we have heard thus far of the synth squad Im not sure its a bit early to start suggesting it beats or bests any other synth...Ive listened to all the examples and whilst it sounds very very promising (and I am excited) I dont think one can make any blanket statements at this stage.

I can:

"A blanket is a type of bedding, generally speaking a large piece of cloth, intended to keep the user warm, especially while sleeping."¹

¹ Wikipedia, 'Blanket'

Heheh :D

damn I was wrong sorry everybody.

I'd like to make a blanket statement in terms of making blanket statements.
