I don't that surprises anyone here... :hihi:
What is most surprising is that some do come around. I can put up a pretty good argument.

Knowing that this contest is hostile to anything resembling a proper commercial song. I personally won't participate in the future. However I wanted to express my opinion and I generally draw out the people with a bad attitude. That's not surprising.

I think this contest is rigged to produce throw away material and bad song construction. I also think another :45 seconds is reasonable solution. However I urge everyone to make the song that's in your head the way you want it to be heard by the listener regardless of the stopwatch.

Chow Baby..

And I think you're just pissed that you weren't able come up with anything interesting within the restrictions and have decided to take it out on those of us that have.

meh, I've heard plenty of stuff from Oddbod that has tons of commercial potential, so methinks thou doth protest too much.

OK, so what's the verdict? What's more important, the duration of a piece of music or how many contests it's won? :hihi:

I think it actually takes more talent to write shorter songs which can offer the emotional experience and appeal of longer tracks.

Quality and length are independent.

The smorgasbord doesn't need bigger plates to make it tastier.

"Ciao Baby".

When are you going to start?

Yep, it's sour grapes on my part. No doubt about it. :hihi:

i'm just following this thread because i'm interested in what people are submitting, and i wasn't even responding to your post (hey, i like the song and it's under two minutes  )... you are arguing about a song you made that's too long for a contest to which you admitted not reading the rules...i'm considering submitting something myself, and i read the rules, so now i know to keep it under 3:00 (regardless what Lady Gaga does :hihi: )

Previous reviews here and here.

tomg - evil

I think this is a really good track. The percussion / ratchet noises along with the low buzzy distorted guitar (synth?) reminded me of a technique used by Peter Gabriel. The mood is spot-on.

thomekk - St. Martin

This really hurts my ears, especially the high frequencies, which are surprising fidelity even in mp3. The guitar A string has poor intonation :hihi: . But otherwise, it follows the rules and it is exceptionally annoying. I feel this way most mornings at 6.30am. Thanks for reminding me. :)

beanpole - Fuct

This sounds like a live recording of a punk rock concert done on a mobile phone. I love the breathless out-of-tune vocals and I think the chorus is catchy. There's enough writing quality and arrangement in this song to prevent it being noise. You want to listen past the recording quality and hear the song. I really think this hits the mark. I wish I could write an arrangement for a guitar band as good as this.

Max el Belga - Sheet

The production on this is slamming and I love the performance(s). I like the idea of a visual joke raising anger. If only you'd put flash powder under the toilet seat. Or KMnO4 on the toilet paper (with a few drops of glycerine in the bowl). Disgustingly good work!

Kisses and thank you so much, Laura for the review
- mission achieved for this contests aim then it seems -
gave my dirty best as it's imho much easier to do some piss off stuff than to piss not off stuff (clipping is part of the saturation opera in this case, though a Limiter/Maximizer was used)

I agree. There's something to Beanpole tunes. I can't put my finger on it but they are catchy.
