Microsoft didn't have the web though and they didn't have your data. Google, Facebook, etc. handle data of every aspect of your life.

Bill Gates admitted that was a mistake some years later if I remember correctly as he underestimated how big it would grow. In the long run though they probably made the right decision to make Windows the focus of their efforts.

Depends which country you're in as far as Google, Facebook having your data is concerned due to local laws. It's not really so much what Google might do with it that worries me as much as what governments will do when Google willingly hands it over. Too much going on behind closed doors and laws put in place to keep that invisible for my liking, but I digress and shouldn't take this HPC-ward.

But yeah, Facebook - my wife said she would never sign up for any social networking site and that they're stupid, but now she's on Facebook all day, either on the PC or her phone...

don't know about televised, but i'd quite happily sit in the pub and have this conversation with them over a gallon or two of beer.

Which part of London? My company has a few times threatened to send me to the UK, which would either be in Croydon or near to Canary Wharf. Hasn't happened yet, but it might one of these days.
