Man, but making a meaningful comparison of ODs is so hard, still struggling atm, not with sounds, but with bringing out the differences.
Big :tu: to these guys who actually published something useful !
And re your nekrotized Marshall, is that how Orange amps came about ?
Not to be mistaken for a Marshall ?
Lol,

LOL. I know what you mean, the only way to truely find out is to play through one with your own setup. But yes there are a few who do actually provide decent clips that give you a ballpark idea as to what to expect and credit to them for doing so :tu: here is a decent demo of the Whampler Triple-Wreck, i don't know why he gets his kid to introduce it  but the quality of the demo is actually decent:

Peace and all the best

You know when irony strikes? Well my friend here it is, my old JCM2000 TSL122 Triple Super Lead 100 Watt 2x12 Combo which i very recently donated/gave to a very good friend since i never use it -

Before, In 'Nekro' colour/paint job and dodgy grille cloth:

After donation, a new paint job and grille cloth by my good friend and i was surprised at what colour he chose to say the least! Here it is now and is getting proper use again which makes me happy:

So an Orange Marshall is down in a basement in macclesfield ;) LOL

She's funny :) , I've seen her "demo" a few pedals already, but not this one.

Wow, if that doesn't sound great ...
Stop, I don't play this style, I don't need one.
Again (ad infinitum):

Eventually I'll believe it ... Maybe.

The only thing I absolutely didn't like is that weird (bass) boost, maybe with a completely different approach to playing it could work, not for me though.

Nice orange colour btw ! :tu:

Think again  , all Jeff Beck Strats I ever played had the most extreme baseball bat necks imaginable.
Although that was the original model, maybe the current ones have changed ?
Don't you think you can adjust to that neck you have ?
Fatter profile sure helps with the tone ime.

the new one is touted to have a dramatically different curve from the previous, and be much easier (owing to JB's super legato recent style I guess), is why. I have a fair amt in common with JB's newer thing (but I'll be damned if I'm using .011s)...

Originally I wanted this one to be a thing to bring out for some kind of deep blues, it just has so much tone. I knew it would be a bear when I bought it. I have a real shite Ibanez which is fast/no action, but has no tone, and some shechter C&W-looking inlay job as some furniture that plays kind of inbetween. I have to clear out some room, I prefer the sound of a strat per se, and if if feels good up in GC, I'll press a trade. It's around $2k, my '57 trib was ~$1400 I think... I'm not playing a lot as it is, busy composing, not going to be queen of all blues in any case... I think I'm limited quite a lot by sticking to this beast. The supajumbo frets aren't it for all the hammers/pulls I do. I have no right hand really.

OK, forget my previous comment then.
As has already been suggested, I think your best bet would be a Warmoth neck for your existing Strat.
You can virtually build your dream neck on their site and get a price quote.
Here is an example I checked last week :
------------------------------
Style: Stratocaster®
Construction: Vintage Modern
Scale: 25-1/2 in.
Neck Wood: $193.00 USD
Shaft Wood: Birdseye Maple
Fingerboard Wood: Indian Rosewood
Orientation: Right Handed + $0.00
Nut Width: 1 3/4" + $25.00
Back Shape: 59 roundback + $35.00
Radius: 10-16" compound + $0.00
# of Frets: 22 + $0.00
Fret Size: SS6100 (Stainless ) + $20.00
Tuner Ream: Vintage Style (11/32") + $0.00
Inlays: Mother Of Pearl Dots + $15.00
Pre-Cut Installed String Nut: GraphTech Black TUSQ XL + $30.00
Mounting Holes: Standard 4 Bolt + $0.00
Finish: Clear Satin Nitro + $65.00
Price: $383.00
--------------------
As a Jeff Beck fan you might want to get it pre-drilled for a set of Sperzels or similar for tuning stability, obviously you'd choose some details differently from my example, but including locking tuners this should easily leave you this side of $500, sounds like a fantastic solution to me.
I owned several Warmoth necks over the years, top notch quality, especially those with compound radius will be a godsend for beckish bends, I sure do love mine.
On top of that, your existing fat neck  (well, that of your Strat :P ), will easily sell for a fair amount, further sweetening the deal. :tu:
I don't know a cheaper and easier way to get a guitar customized for your playing style ...

thank you for that, as it's not something I would normally gravitate to, being not too mechanically-oriented.
this is a practically new guitar, and the fingerboard isn't worn so if there's value in a neck this would have it I think...

so this is basically a non-baseball bat neck? in the abstract, measurements are lost on me.
at any rate, I'd be putting 4 or 500 into this trade-in at least, so this is not only an option I like as it means that I don't have to get my lazy ass to GC but it looks to save a few bucks.

thanks again

Everything's clearly explained on the site, give it half an hour ...
http://www.warmoth.com/pages/CustomNeck.aspx
Going by the preferences you stated before, I'd say:
- standard thin profile (a la American Standard)
- alternatively, but rather extreme : wizard (a la Ibanez RG or similar)
- vintage/modern construction with compound radius
- 6230 frets / i.e. vintage Fender
- I'd recommend nitro finish personally
- the other options should be obvious
But please doublecheck, no guarantees !

edit:
Any pic of that Schecter ?
I have a few older US Schecters myself, great guitars with real tone !

Post

I'm getting 326$ so far, and the things I'm not 100% on won't affect that. EG: I'm not familiar with sperzel... the thing that isn't clear to me is they list two sizes for 'schaller'.

I'm going with medium jumbo '6130'. & those really skinny necks are way too extreme, I've had that on an Ibanez, real fast guitar but never felt right.

Black Graphite nut...

I don't have a pic of the Schecter, no. Very suitable for country, that sort of snaky vine inlay... very glossy body too.

Post

Sounds about right to me.
My example is more expensive due to some non-standard options costing extra.
What you chose will feel very similar to an American Standard neck, with the added bonus of the compound radius.
Re tuners, Schaller or Sperzel, both are good. Just specify the exact type as the holes will be different, the Schallers requiring different diameters drilled from top and bottom, check the pic closely.

susiwong

The sperzels well the sperzels i have had on a stolen ESP Custom Shop Horizon :x (long story but still annoying!) had a wheel on the back of the headstock to lock the strings down. Worked really well but they are noticebly more clunky than non-locking tuners (looking at the headstock from the rear anyway) but nice devices for sure

My next guitar?

A totally custom 8-string, including MIDI and some other unique features.
Talking to several luthiers now and doing research.

It may take 8 months or so, but it'll be worth it!

G
Don't ask me, I just play here.

That sounds really cool!

Odd, I had no real problems playing 6 sting bass well, but an 8 string guitar is totally impossible....or a 7 for that matter.

I hope we get to see pics!!!

lousy pic (thumbnailed for confort)and an acoustic, but here it is:
