Wow lots of struggling with this install uh

1 Copy everything from program files z3ta folder into the z3ta folder in your vst plugins

2 copy everything in the doc+settings/app data/z3ta folder into the z3ta folder in your vst plugins

3 duplicate this z3ta folder with everything in it and rename it virus or some shit

4 copy the files from the v2 mod into this folder and also rename the z3ta.dll to virus.dll or some shit

5 Delete user1 - user4 wavs from the wavetable folder

6 Click on the waveshaper (Not an osc) and check the half saw if it looks like a sine its installed properly

7 look back in this thread for my resaved (V1.4) default.fxb and use that and it will fix the quality issues

That should get you going

I am confused about the half saw looking like a sine (?). It looks like a half saw for me... The same as with the original z3ta...
Play it by ear

Then i would say it isn't installed properly
Mine looks like a sine

Have you renamed oscil.pcm to oscil.set ? (Should have mentioned that above too)

Yup, that's what it looks like for me. That doesn't look like a sine to me though. A sine looks like a wave. This looks like.. a half saw...

A sine is also available as a wave, and it looks like a sine :)

Anyway, load the original Z3ta+, initialize the program and load the half saw waveform and you get the same thing..

So how is this supposed to ensure you have the virus mod installed correctly if you can also load the half saw in the regular z3ta+ (?)

PS: I haven't read anywhere to do this. I didn't have to rename it, and everything seems to be working: Have you renamed oscil.pcm to oscil.set ? (Should have mentioned that above too)

Dude if that shape on the right hand side looks like a half saw you have some very strange sawtooths
That is very much a sine wave and nothing else
The one on the left is a half saw

The left hand shaper is z3ta half saw
The right hand shaper is virus mod half saw
Completely different

i don't see any z3ta data in my app data folder. i don't even get complete search results in vista for z3ta. jesus, i hope windows 7 is back to xp bare bones. you know, people who want EVERYTHING hidden from them are too scared to go near an evil computer. ms, would you please let us have control over our computers again? pc users are geeks and artists. we can handle it.

You should also be able to tell if your Virus mod works by the fact that there are all new presets that are named and sound different than the ones in your regular z3ta+.

Actually that wont help you at all
If you haven't installed the wavetables properly which they have not if you have a half saw for the half saw then you will get presets that sound different but still use the default z3ta wavetables
So you can not tell if the mod is installed just by looking at the new bank of presets

If you are using v1.5.3 of z3ta+ which I assume you guys are, then following the instructions on page six should work for doing the virus mod install.

Keep in mind that previous versions of z3ta+ have a different file structure and folder naming so the v2 mod instructions are out of date.

3 things to note:

1. the virus zeta+.dll has to reside at the root level with the rest of the folder labeled Resources, Programs, etc. in the duplicated z3ta+ mod folder

2. Older versions of z3ta+ labeled the Programs folder "Presets". You must change or create this at the root level as well.

3. When you launch you DAW, you may see 2 z3ta+ vsti's. You have rename one to Virus z3ta in your host as it doesnt know the difference between them.

If the virus mod isnt working, you may have missed a step which is easy to do.

To check for proper installation, confirm sine wave shape when half saw is selected. Load Virus_z3ta+, initialize under "Program" button, select half saw under osc 1, select "Shaper" to confirm sine wave shape.

The reason the wave shape is different is because the virus mod replaces the oscill.set file with the virus one.

Hope this helps! :D

putting the rest of the files in a separate folder next to the dll didn't work either. as usual, after vista asks me if i want to search online for a solution to a program not responding or terminate the program, i select terminate. after that does nothing, i hit "crtl alt del". i'm then presented with a full screen asking me why i hit "crtl alt del". i then have to let vista know i'm interested in going to the task manager. vista is soooooo much fun. oh, and i love the mixer.
