I say you: MS-20 and Sub Phatty.

I wouldn't get both of them for the money I have laid out on Prophet 08 pe rack, Tetra and ms-20 would come in at the right money!SJ_Digriz wrote:absolutely the right answer.EvilDragon wrote:I say you: MS-20 and Sub Phatty.
Plus then I'd have 3 x monophonic analogs with sub phatty/MS-20.
I'm trying to limit my set-up for the long term - not massing tons of gear, really do want a Prophet 08(yep, mind made up).
Really like the idea/sound of the MS-20 though, plus the sub phatty does seem nice.
AAaaaaaaarghhhh! GAS ATTACK!
I might just squeeze in the ms-20 later in the year....maybe!

The MS20 Mini has arrived on the webpages of norwegian webshops. It is 908 US dollar with todays exchange rates. After all we are the most expensive country in the world. We could import it from US, but then will have to add 25% VAT and + custom taxes + shipping. Might just as well buy it here in Norway.
All the best

breakmixer - I was going more along the line that at $600 everybody should have a MS-20mini in their arsenal. And, of course, as a synthesist's rule, everybody should have a Moog in their arsenal, too!

The MS-20 is just a cool £499, no brainer price really for a long term synth.EvilDragon wrote:breakmixer - I was going more along the line that at $600 everybody should have a MS-20mini in their arsenal. And, of course, as a synthesist's rule, everybody should have a Moog in their arsenal, too!
The sub phatty, hmmmm £799...no quite so no brainer-ish! For me anyway.
When would it all end if I keep buying lol.
Next up, Roland reissue the Jupiter 8 for £1,500...*

I'm for this. I had a shot at buying one originally. Not sure why I chickened out. One of the many terrible choices I look back on.breakmixer wrote: When would it all end if I keep buying lol.

If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Except Roland will never reissue any of their analogs.

never say never ... by I agree it is unlikely.EvilDragon wrote:Except Roland will never reissue any of their analogs.

Found this posted over at gearslutz--it's a line level recording of the MS20 mini:

Their management isn't concerned with their vintage past to the point they would do a recreation of any of their analog boards. They seem to be forward looking, instead of backward, which I can kinda understand.SJ_Digriz wrote:never say never ... by I agree it is unlikely.EvilDragon wrote:Except Roland will never reissue any of their analogs.

They simply have to make a 303 re-issue though.
The only concession to modernity needed, IMO,
is MIDI control for note events.
I am not sure I want a xOx,
and I hate the old sequencer on the original--
(+I'd have to sell a kidney)
I am happier with the look of their newer stuff,
it seems more rugged and styley than some of the
plasticky things from 5 years ago.
