I certainly hope there will be stability.

I came on to X1 just around the time the CW forum was erupting/erupted. I actually did not have any issues when I first started but the deeper I got the more thing went a little awry.

I went through all the patches, hot fixes and all what else and managed to cobble together a, somewhat, stable, if not more manageable program...

Hence I think I'll be sitting on the fence for awhile before either jumping in or dumping... :? :help:

Quite funny i found out that the Sonar X2 crashes were caused by v-vocal ! So you can enter Sonar in safe mode while holding shift and click on the project you want to load. then say no to all plugins and the project was there. now everytime i say load the project with all plugins and no to v-vocal, the project opens.

That means i can redo all the work with melodyne , which should work better than and is better to read for me (v-vocal is quite fiddly..)

VVocal and Audio Snap were issues with X1 as well.

Someone said Sonar is one of the very few daws, that can be crashed even with its own midi plugins

Anyway nice to see Ara integration. Lets see what cakewalk is offering their long term customers...

Well, if you doubleclick the PC header it would crash...instantly!!! :help:

Chance yes, likely no.

This upgrade fits me real well in functionality and content it seems, X2a misbehaves for me anyway and I'm between projects. So I'll upgrade early for once, which I never normally do.
Feels strange to upgrade with one reason being shaky current version. But currently it's no big deal if things mess up.

X1d however was REAL solid on my machine.

TheoM wrote:well juffi I get crashes with studio drummer! No jokes. No matter what, if i reload a project using even one instance of studio drummer, the moment i press play, even if there's no midi data for the drummer, just the fact that it's there, sonar hangs indefinitely. It's crazy. I can't use their included plugin which works fine in S1.. yep.. reload, play, everything. Oh and it works in cubase as well.
Not sure what you're saying here. Do you mean session drummer 3, or SI drummer? But I though those were locked to Sonar?

Nope session drummer 3 is not locked. I can open that in Cubase 7 as well. Works good. I can't use that Cakewalk's Breverb in Cubase 7 f.e.

Nice to know!

I haven't used another DAW for ages....

Surprise. *FACEPALM*
Optimal number of audio plugins is one more than you currently have.

Same here. Still using it almost every day. Only plug-in that crahses Sonar is Nebula (if added to the almost finished mix).

That is why I never upgraded to X2. I've heard too much bad things about it.

I got that a lot. cronos.dll or something. V-Vocal sucks anyway.

anyone who'd like to crash sonar xn to the desktop, try using two VSTs that output MIDI data...
