I assume preset migration will be a non issue?

Same here! Really looking forward to this one!

@Snow Audio basically yes - the only thing of note that won't come over is arpeggiator settings - the v2 arpeggiator is a total rewrite (and much better for it).

Did they at least increase the size of the GUIs or are they still too small?

Post

Strobe 2 currently has 10 levels of magnification, from 75% to 220%.

Just like with this new GUI, they need better visual marking of the various areas. The oscillator and filter sections should be clearly defined, for instance, same for envelopes, LFO's. Just like with the old GUI, I only see a pile of controls and nothing immediately tells you what they're for, apart from some small text.

Well i think it is a metter of preference. I think the old GUI size is good. Do not need it more and i use 27 inch 1440p monitor. But it will be nice if GUI size will be adjustable so all people will be happy.

This. Honestly the new one looks even more confusing than the old at a glance IMO. Everything just blend together with no distinction. Besides the slightly bigger Osc and Filter knobs I cannot tell where things start and end.

Now's the time to make suggestions. If you have an idea for how you want it to look, say it here! Angus is watching!

Well...
I prefer it over the old look, so any suggestions are purely from a spirit of yet-further improvement, but it still seems a bit unfocused to me. Specifically:
  • The shiny-chrome-style knob centres don't quite fit the overall flat look.
  • Although the "light top half, darker bottom half" motif is all over the UI, it doesn't make things feel unified, partly because it isn't carried all the way through (the two main panels have the same colour backgrounds, the patch names are each one flat background, etc), and partly because it's subtly misleading (Are these sliders for bipolar variables? And what meaning could it have for the background of a dial - is there a special significance for 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock that warrants them being marked?)
  • The lighter-style labels (DETUNE, TONE etc) seem a little too light compared to the bold/semibold ones, and this draws attention to the fact that there seem to be a lot of different point sizes being used - but without imparting any particular meaning (grouping items, establishing hierarchy).
  • Clearly there's still stuff to come in the top panels too.
Just my opinion, of course, and this is purely from a visual point of view rather than functionality. I'm looking forward to this one, though :tu:
