While I think it's good to encourage people, if you just say "nice, nice, nice" how are people gonna improve?
Maybe it's just me who's not in touch with most of the music.
if you post in the cafe regularly, i'll write more critisim if i think its needed because you can post multiple changes of the song as you fix it. the contests are limited to reposting (although this month seems to be an exception
) so i don't like to write a lot of critism and then have a person wish they would have changed something when they can't for the contest. i also write all my contest reviews from a musicians point of view and not from the point of view where i relate to a genre. i personally feel if you don't do it that way, its biased. i like rock/metal for instance - right off the bat you can probably tell that most songs "really aren't my style", but again, i look and review from a musicians point of view, not from a rock/metal point of view. that's just my way of doing things.
