Ok I've updated the skin folder as well. Just a quick test "Chantrix" still crashes FL Studio and Reaper. It shows a small box that says "processing [0]" then crashes the host.

I'll have more time tomorrow to test CPU numbers.......... :)

Just installed, and am starting to check it out now. Before I forget, I just wanted to ask again if the Sample player window can be made smaller? It takes up a lot of space. :?

I'll report back after checking it out some more. 8)

Those same Chantrix presets are still crashing Sonar X3 here. The CPU for some other presets I tried is a lot lower though

Testing this morning....

There is still a problem with the WaveSequencer when importing old presets.

In previous versions, when you had a sound play over multiple steps it would just continue the sound and not re-trigger it for every step. V8 re-triggers the sound at each step. Even adding in X-Fades does not fully make the sounds play across each step. In V7 and below, if you had a sound held across multiple steps and wanted it to re-trigger, you had to tell it to do so. Can we have this back please? Otherwise, to convert older presets the Wavesequences have to be entirely reconfigured with less steps and the time adjusted....

Post

I sent you a V7 preset you can open in V8 to see what I am talking about. The problem in in the second wavesequencer....

Ooops, indeed, I have to add that back for mode II :dog: txs.

Woke up this morning, loaded in Wusik 8, and discovered another older preset EvolVox-Tek also crashes everything here (just like Chantrix), ... luckily my coffee survived the crash. :hihi:

Not sure if this info helps, but this older dual core PC has Windows 7 - 32-bits with 2 gigs of RAM. I also have a laptop I can try it on as well with much more memory and an i5 CPU (it has 64-bit Windows 7).

I just wanna give William some props on the work he's putting in on W8.

I tested an earlier beta and this update sounds WAY better compared to the v6 that I originally bought (which was my main detractor from pursuing forward with W8). The filters sound AMAZING and the granular engine is implemented pretty well. Keep up the great work and like others have said, by all means take your time!! You can't rush greatness.

I would love to purchase but I'm paying for a wedding right now. I am going to upgrade however soon as that is all finished. I'm looking forward to being able to use full capabilities of W8 when its complete.

Quick question, as I haven't read the whole forum. Is W8 still able to upload SFZs and have there been any more opcodes added?

Beta 42 uploaded, all files, Win/Mac Public/Private. Good progress on this one. :hyper:

- Oversampling option is back on, there's no longer an option to disable the lowpass downsample filter. I have optimized the code so it uses much less CPU usage even at 4x and 8x oversampling.
- Fixed the Search Preset, now it works.
- Fixed a crash problem with the reported presets.
- Wavesequencer Mode II, added Retrig option. By default a step will only retrig the sound if the layer or tune is different, or if XFade is above zero. Otherwise it will follow the Retrig option: Yes or No.
- Did some more optimizations on the code.
- Fixed more internal stuff.
- Audio Input is not working correctly yet, so is the Audio Looper. I will fix this next...
- Unison is working again.

Cool, where are the skins?

Just a quick test using the Amazona patch, I am seeing a 50% reduction, it is using less cpu in 2x oversampling than it was without any oversampling now. I can push it to 8x before getting crackles.

Installer still not installing plugin files though, even with overwrite ticked.

Search is still crashing

Post

Better, William. My presets are starting to sound like my presets.... :D

Only could do a quick test. Will check more in the morning.....

I could be wrong, but did not the X-Fade in V7 and earlier only trigger the sample if the sound or note were different?

Post

William,

I checked the same preset I sent you the other day. It is sounding better but not yet itself. In V7 and below the X-Fade did not automatically re-trigger a sample, only if the source changed or if the note (the Tune value) was different would the source re-trigger. If that could be fixed, I think importing the old presets would almost be finished....

Finally, it seems we're getting there in terms of sound quality. Have to perform some more tests, but now this starts to sound good :-)

I still would like that the GUI for the sampling module would be smaller, with the option to cal a bigger window if/when we double click to edit the samples/zones/whatever. Such big display just to wath the waveform seems a little useless to me. Even if you choose to leave it at the current size, the bigger editing window would be a good option, IMO.
