Quick question: dled the demo version and it sounds mighty but I can't seem to figure out how to init the synth- is this maybe not possible with the demo?
If so, no chance of me purchasing the full product as I don't really use presets and need to explore sound design from scratch to get a feel for a synth.

IIRC it’s in the settings section and it says INIT down there, above the Matrix section.swilow11 wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2024 12:08 am Quick question: dled the demo version and it sounds mighty but I can't seem to figure out how to init the synth- is this maybe not possible with the demo?

Hmm, yeah that's what the manual said too, but the pic in the manual looked different to what I was seeing. Sounds amazing though, really want to try it out although so I need another super synth, probably not...!

I have the latest full version installed. The Init button is there and it has lots of options for starting points besides a basic Init patch.

Hmm.. I'm having trouble opening any of my Tone2 synths. The only thing that has changed is that I've upgraded Mac OS to Sonoma. I suspect it's a permissions error but before I go digging around all that bollocks I thought I'd ask here if anybody else has had the same issue?
Basically when I try to open Icarus, Electra3 or Gladiator 4 I get a "Critical error! An important file is missing" and Reaper crashes. Weird thing is that the folder structures have not changed at all. Everything is where it's supposed to be. Any ideas?
EDIT: Well, after re-installing they now all work. Very strange.

You need to have the VST version installed. I deleted my VST folder as I only use VST3 and AU and the same thing happened. Some Rob Papen synths do the samebmanic wrote: Fri Sep 27, 2024 8:40 pm Hmm.. I'm having trouble opening any of my Tone2 synths. Ah very good info, thank you! That's exactly what I have done a long time ago. So the AU and VST3 are wrappers and the actual plugin is VST2.

99% of the VST3 and AU plugins on the market use some kind of wrapper. JUCE is a very common one. CLAP is also a wrapper. A wrapper can be compiled to the code, embedded to a component or be a separate dynamic link library.
VST3 without any kind of wrapper is only supported by Steinbergs VST3 SDK. There are only very very few plugins using it as this SDK is very unpopular among developers. Warlock is one of these few plugins.
In Electra the plugin formats share resources like graphics and parts of the sound engine. This saves hardisc space, preserves downward compatibility and keep mainteance for updates more easy.
I want to point out that the VST3 version of Electra is not only a wrapper for a VST2 plugin. It has a slightly different feature set and it makes use of several VST3 features like longer parameter names (e.g. "Layer1 Osc 1 Volume") or window resizing (that my not work in VST2 in all DAWs) .
Which version you use does not matter. They sound exaclty the same and the preformance is also the same.

Well at the very least you may want to put this information somewhere in a FAQ.. or at the very least change the error message so that it clearly states the VST2 plugin is missing, instead of a cryptic "critical file is missing". It's not uncommon to purge unused plugin folders. For me it just happened to be the VST2 folder this time around.

You can easily crash or damage most software if you delete or move files or directories. You simply shouldn't do this unless you know exaclty how the software works. And usually only the developer knows this.
Also there is no cryptic message. It clearly sais "you need to run the installer as a part of the installation is missing " ( instead of just crashing). Anyone who can read a short sentence is able to understand and solve it easily.
The software is also stable and reliable.
So there is no need for another kvr-drama.

No, problem is that there is so many drama queens and grandmas around here, which nitpick about each little thing. Probably as they are not satisfied with their own lifes, so attacks on forums usually comes to them as some sort of stress relief.enCiphered wrote: Sat Sep 28, 2024 7:32 pm The level of arrogance is unreal.
