TONE3000 is the world's largest community for guitar tones, bass tones and studio equipment captures. Discover and share IR's and NAM profiles of amps, pedals, rigs, outboards, and signal chains — It's free!
I still find it difficult to really find the good things there (too many options, very mixed quality) and end up with a well rounded collection, with some consistency.

I guess that's what the companies would do for you with internal QA and alignment.

Does anyone know if there's a curated collection of NAM captures that goes into that direction? Even if it's just 10-30 captures, but well curated and all of high quality, it would help me a lot.

I'll give you a few profile creators that do reliable usually high quality dynamic low noise captures that you can follow:

https://www.tone3000.com/slamminmofo (IMO one the best free profile creators on the site with an attention to detail and vast amount of captures per amp and comes in 3 quality settings)

https://www.tone3000.com/timr

https://www.tone3000.com/petrc

https://www.tone3000.com/helgab (regarded for good high gain metal captures if you like to chug)

https://www.tone3000.com/emilrohbe

https://www.tone3000.com/2dor (very detail oriented providing lots of captures per amp and quality settings)

https://www.tone3000.com/arlingtonaudio

https://www.tone3000.com/amalgamaudio (these are his limited free captures but has a commercial site with a lot of high quality and rare amp packs and hybrid profile creations)

https://www.tone3000.com/coretonecaptures (another commercial pack creator that has some good free offerings)

https://www.tone3000.com/mattfig (free full rig demos for his commercial packs)

These creators are usually for *real hardware* amp head only captures unless noted that it's a full rig (amp and cab captured with a mic), or a pedal capture, so you'll need an IR/cabsim after the amp only captures...plenty of good free IR packs on the site too. And there are preamp or rack preamp captures, most often without a power amp unless noted, so you'll need a power amp plugin or power amp profile (Slamminmofo also has a variety of power amp only capture packs) after it to make it sound like it should. And there is also some outboard mixing preamp/EQ hardware captures to add color to any track. Just to note, there are also people doing captures of ampsim plugins, which IMO i frown upon, and you can usually tell within the name or graphic or very limited info or a very bodacious claim of a rare amp profile capture...my favorite LOL is when someone says "Hey guys, I made captures of my Dumble" :dog: :hihi:

The Tone3000 site is still in beta and is difficult to search for specific creators, but if you have an amp and tone in mind, the search for that is pretty decent.

Thanx a lot for your recommendations! Much appreciated!
And yeah, please send me a PM when you have your Dumble super hyper capture done. Finally. :hihi:

Thanks metalifuxx for the pointers!

I see the flexibility of capturing only "the head", but I wonder if you wouldn't get the best and most efficient experience if you capture your amp end-to-end? I can't imagine that an IR would then be as realistic than having captured the amp as recording from start?

For my computer use, it's not a problem to split it up, but I also have a Valeton GP-5 which basically can only import one NAM capture and then doesn't have the processing power to do another IR after that. So having full captures would be useful for that.

But I'll have a look at the links you provided. Much appreciated!
