It has been 64-bit for a long time now... might even have been right from the beginning.

When I downloaded it years ago, it was 32 bit only. It does kind of work on my system, which is surprising, but it's definitely 32 bit. Nice to see that they have a 64 bit version too.

It may have been 32-bit only when it just came out, but, if you take a look at the original post in this thread, it was edited in february 2014, and says "32-bit and 64-bit versions included". So, it has been available for at least 2 1/2 years now as 64-bit, if not more.

Okay, just double checked my records. I did a 2nd download of this plugin on 4/16/2016 that was a 64 bit version. So sometime between then and when I first downloaded, it was 32 bit only. But yeah, I already do have the 64 bit version. Just forgot all about it. That might be why it works on my machine. The original plugin crashed a lot.

I remember one of the first versions was an extreme CPU hog too. They definitely worked on that as well.

Yeah, that makes sense now. I originally downloaded in July of 2013. After I download VSTs, especially free ones, I don't keep checking to see if there are new versions. I'd be spending all day every day with all the VSTs I have. And since there was no mailing list and I don't always catch all the threads here, I didn't find out about the 64 bit until April of this year.

It's GPL, no need to selling.

It would be difficult, since Oberheim closed doors many years ago. Besides, noone could prevent you to do a GUI with blue stripes obver a black background. They could complain as much as they wanted, but they could do nothing to stop it.

Actually, Gibson holds the rights to the original Oberheim stuff still insofar as I can tell. Coupled with the fact that Tom is actually making Oberheim synths again, there might be a little bit of gray area there.

Quick question for George:

Are the VST Plugin IDs the same for both the old version and the latest version?

The reason I ask is because I'd like to compare my old version 1 with 1.3 - side-by-side. I don't think it's possible to load them both if the IDs are the same.

Has anyone tried?

And thanks again George for taking this on. This is one of my favourite synths.

Yes, I think the VST ID has been respected as well as for AU.

VST Host can load individual DLLs and probably Polac VST Loader from Buzz too.

WOW..! That's gotta be the fastest response to a post ever. I only asked like 2 seconds ago.

:D

Thanks George.

I'll try VST Host.

This one, right?

Hi George,

Another quick question: Is the source for the discoDSP version available ? The download link for the Linux version does get me to buildable source code, but that code is three years old.

Best,
