A loop set you don't hear much about, but is a sweet collection of drum loops, is Nashville Pop. I think the name might give you pause if you don't do "country", but check out the demo for JUST the drums (cuz that's what you get) and there's some great performances that'll work in LOTS of styles. Also, the World Grooves set might be cool over the DTE set or work for breaks...

And big word of support to tongo, I want those all-star drum libraries too! Maybe a future GB? I'm ST addicted! You know how it is... the first ones are free. Then, the hard stuff, ST3!

And the whole money thread reminds me of when Bart found out how much Skinner made a year over his career and figured he was a millionaire! (Bobby Hill too, trivia fans)

Yep, those "real drummer" packs would be sweet in SampleTank, such as the Bill Bruford set that esoundz already carries in another format.

Other guys from specific bands that have done loops packages (Bun E. Carlos, Joey Kramer, etc) would be cool to have sliced and mapped in SampleTank too.

No new recording would be needed. Just swing a deal to port those old titles (that aren't selling much anymore in the other formats anyway) into SampleTank format and build the maps.

I'd have to buy a "Bun E. In A Box" Expansion Tank just on general principle.

For example child presets were included in the Cinematik_Collection_new.zip, that were not in the original download. For Cinematik there are 147 included child presets in the _new.zip

[snip]

...Were the above 3 the only ones updated? Otherwise how do you get it past the download window?
Those three were the only ones updated. For those whose d/l links @ IKM have expired on these sound sets, here is Squid's original post on how to get those missing child presets:
Squids wrote:Hey Guys, here's a nice bonus. If any of you choose any of the following Multisamples titles (note, not the loop/groove titles of similar names):

Cinematik Collection
Hip Hop Instruments
World Instruments

Then I have some extra "child" patches for ya. Now, to explain what that is... each sound has a "parent" sound which has the main (sometimes raw/dry) samples and then it has variations (often processed with effects or synthesis) called child presets. These child presets have the extension .stip at the end and they reside right next to the parent sounds (which are the .stw, .sti and .sth files of that patch name... the .stw being the file that has the actual samples in it).

Anyway, if that simple tech talk doesn't intimidate you (which we hope it doesn't) then here are some .stip (child) patches to drop into the folders of the sounds of that title. You think you can do it? If not you'll be able to just replace the whole folder of that title when IK updates it. But why not give this a try?

Alight, so again the STIP files need to be put along side the same patch name's STW, STI and STH files. They are in their sub folders.

In the case of Cinematik there is no subfolder so you just throw all the STIPs in with the rest of the STW etc. files and you're good to go! Restart or hit "relist" on SampleTank and they'll show up under the little black arrow next to the sound in the browser. Some good ones in there.

As far as Hip Hop Instruments and World Instruments, the child patches are just basic "wet" versions. But you might appreciate that and it is a freebie here so... what you would need to do is put the STIPs of the sub folder in the zip I am about to let you download into the corresponding sub folder of the sounds you have (from that title).

For example: If you have World Instruments you would put the .STIP files of the Ethnic Stringed folder into the folder of the same name in your World Instruments so they are next to the .STW, .STI and .STH files of that subfolder in World Instruments. Do the same for the Ethnic Wind and Ethnic Percussion subfolders.

Okay and if you have Hip Hop Instruments you would do the same for the subfolders (put the stips of the corresponding folders into the one you have)

Analog Elements
Hip Hop Drums
Hip Hop Guitars
Hip Hop Synth Sounds
Orchestral Elements

-----
Go ahead and try it if you have those titles (it won't work at all if you didn't buy those titles btw).

Here's the temporary link. This is totally optional: http://www.esoundz.com/tmp/ST_Child_Preset_Update.zip

I'll leave it up there for a few days. Enjoy!
I just checked the link and it's still good... :tu:

Definitely. Squids said that one of the next things is a bunch of new ReTank titles. Hopefully those are some of the packs he is thinking of converting. I have many of those packs in REX format, but would be glad to have them in ST format as well, especially if I could buy a bunch of them at a spectacular GB price.

Another convert! Great! :-)

The groove collections (and construction kits) are fabulous and VERY WORTH HAVING, even if you don't use loops. :-o ;-)

I honestly think that everyone should be joining 2 times just to get all 15 of the groove collections. If you use your IK Jam Points the cost would be only $3.13 a groove pack, and each of them are really good to have in your toolbox.

Is this a bug or is it my system? Running ST 2.5.4 with Windows XP SP2 :help:
That's not a bug, they have not been programmed into the sounds. So there would be little control of the sounds using VSTi parameters but you could assign MIDI CC messages to the controls.

That's why I have asked for user-assignable Macro controls in ST3. I really would like to use them on the SS2 sounds.

midinut wrote: Also, a few pages back, I saw someone had organized their folders in a very cool way. Well I needed to make room on my drive for these new sounds anyway so I tried this myself and screwed up my SS2 install. I moved everything IK related from my C: drive over to an external drive and then neither ST2 nor SS2 would run. When I downlaoded the SampleTank XT package and installed that it fixed my ST2 problem, and even shows and plays my SS2 library within ST2. But I still can't get SS2 to work on its own. I'm sure I probably moved something out of a place that had pointers to it but I could use some help (or I can file a help request). Just wanted to tell my story so maybe it doesn't happen to someone else here like me who gets anxious.

So if you folks have enough suggestions I may buy in again to further the cause!

BTW - my epoints went to Rabid who was good to me a long time ago!
Organise your instrument folders like this

IK Multimedia
-- SampleTank

---- your XT library
---- Xpansion Tanks etc
---- eSoundz bonusus etc
-- Sonic Synth Free
---- your SS2 instruments etc
-- SampleMoog
---- your SM sounds library

[I've included Samplemoog to show the idea more fully.]

Start Sonic Synth, point it at your Sonik Synth Free folder, it should then do a Relist.

Start SampleMoog, point it at your SampleMoog folder, it should then do a Relist.

Start SampleTank, point it at your IK Multimedia folder, it should then do a Relist. This one will include the ST2, SM and SS2 sounds.

If you want to use the SS2 Combis (are there any?) in ST2 you need to copy them:
from the "C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\Sonik Synth 2\Presets" folder (here)
to the C:\Program Files\IK Multimedia\SampleTank 2.5\Presets" folder (here)

Same goes for SampleMoog. [Depending on your OS, you might be able to use Junction points, I'm not sure.]

Bumpies in case everyone missed this......... :hihi: I thought with so many people joining twice lots of people would own all these already.

I'm surprised there aren't more combis floating around especially with this group buy going on. I guess that's the hard part of sharing combis.....not everyone will have all the samples needed. I don't look at Sampletank so much as a multi-timbral rompler but as 16 layered synths with sample based oscillators. This makes Sampletank a very powerful synth in my opinion capable of everything from deep evolving pads to respectable VA.

Looks like we'll hit 8 x 1 today. I think the Arp collection will be my pick.

Wow. That's groovy. I had never thought of doing it like that. I have Miroslav Classik, SampleMoog, and SampleTron in folders outside my SampleTank library. But doing it this way would mean not having to use the GUIs for those libraries if I just wanted to use an existing instance of SampleTank.

Can't believe I had never thought of this or tried it before. Thanks! 8)

Of course I can't help but wonder what kind of ID conflicts I may face by doing this. The SampleTron samples may conflict with some of the Squids Tron Collection Vol. 1.

I wonder. :?:

Good idea! I now want that too! It would be great to be able to assign them and then resave the parent so the macro assignments will automatically show up in all the children.

This could be very handy indeed!

...and just think of the Combis you could put together. :)

ID overlaps: You'll just have to track down the saved preset and move it, then delete the duplicate Instrument (it is possibly better to rename the .sti to .sti.dup?). AFAIK if the .sti is not found then the Instrument will not appear in the Browser.

Just fix up Sampletank so that I can use my mouse wheel (incredibly annoying) on my Win7 64-bit setup.

Even more importantly, so I can finally automate stuff in Ableton Live.

Important stuff guys! :o

I guess it's time to forget the idea of reaching 6000 by Tursday - at least Tuesday somewhere. How about we reach 6000 by 5 o'clock, 'cause it's always 5 o'clock somewhere! :D

Haven't tried it yet on Windows 7 64-bit myself, yet.
